Most unintentionally funny fight scene i've seen

At the near ending, when Liam goes against some random fat dude wearing a track suit. It was hella funny.., like he was supposed to be the big boss or something.. but that fight just looked completely goofy.. some random fat dude comes out of nowhere like he's supposed to be the boss and then has a 5 minute fight scene hahaha.. it's like how did the directors not think it looked stupid

The guy he fought was the main hecnhman. He had actually been in the whole movie here and there (torturing the french policeman, punching Neeson when he was tied up, getting ready to cut Famke's face, etc.) He was only wearing the track suit during the last part of the movie. He is a bit short (although a lot of people look short standing next to Liam Neeson), but isn't really fat. The guy's name is Alain Figlarz and he did the fight coordinating on Taken 2 and many other projects. The fight was goofy looking because it almost felt like a big game of patty cake.

Patty cake is SO right! At times it looked like two girls were fighting. And I'm a female who fought like a girl when I was much, much younger. The only thing missing was pulling hair, name calling and crying. If the camerawork and editing looked better it might have been passable.

reply

Exactly my thoughts lol. I was like "wait? who was this guy, was I not paying attention before?" cause they did portray him as the badass guy yet he seemed to be only some random fatass dude as you said.

reply

I LOLd because he was barely putting any effort into the fight. It was like they were both just barely trying.

"Worthington, we're being attacked by giant bats!"

reply

Neeson should had just shot him but no, he had to take on the Albanian national MMA champion to a fist fight.

Its that man again!!

reply

That guy, Alain Figlarz, is some former commando dude with extensive weapons and martial arts training. He turns up in a lot of French thrillers.

There's a cool little scene in the Daniel Auteil, Gerard Depardieu thriller '36' where Figlarz' murdering thief character is attacked in a hotel room by a SWAT team. He comes out of the shower and hammers about three of them before they take him down.

They just didn't set him up very well in Taken 2.

Check out his fights with Albert Dupontel in Chrysalis.

The henchman is laughable and it's unrealistic that a CIA agent wouldn't wipe the floor with his short fat ass.

The henchman looks like Super Mario, ffs.

The fight scene is also a joke. How does he die, he gets pushed to death?
HAHAHAHA

reply

I agree with everyone more or less. That henchman is supposed to show that they are regular looking in a way. They all can't be big and buff. It would be too perfect if they got another guy to look like the one from T1 when they fought on the boat.

I liked when the guy just randomly slaps Liam's hand during the fight.

An old retired CIA agent kills 35 guys in the first movie and close to 30 guys in this movie and you're laughing how unrealistic how much trouble he has in one of the fist fights? lol

reply

I would love to see you fight this "random fat guy". lol. I'm pretty sure how it would end up. But I will say the fight "looked" weak with to much hand fighting/slapping/defense and not enough fists. But that was to make them look so good that you think that is how the BEST fight. I like some of that (Bourne movies did it first) but not to much, have to keep it old school manly. lol

"In Taken 2 we had this wonderful guy, Alain Figlarz, who’s an ex-special-forces operative, and he’s now a fight choreographer."

every fight scene was funny, the one before that was like 5 guys armed with sticks (metal rods?). hey we're taking on a guy who killed most of our heavily-armed crime family already, so let's not bring our guns, let's try to take him out with sticks.

then the final fight brian wins with a facepalm of death.
