Not a fan of the real Enid
Although HBC plays it well, it's hard to watch. What a horrid woman! I kept wanting someone to slap her, hard!!!!
shareA lot of people seem to get upset when they see that their childhood heroes weren't perfect beings. Enid was clearly a very talented but thoroughly unpleasant person to be close to. It seems the main reason this is rated low is because people get so upset about it, I don't know why you can't enjoy someones work even if their an unpleasant person.
shareI never read her books as a child. I don't expect people to be perfect, but this woman was so far from decent. What does it matter if you're viewed as talented, when you can't even love your children? It's a basic need in life.

Yes, everyone is flawed. That is a fact and not a harsh reality, but Enid was not in reality. There was something mentally wrong with this woman that cannot be denied simply because she was talented. I'm sure her family accepted her state of mind and moved on, but not without scars.
