Soooo ... who else hadn't seen any of the YT clips b/4 seeing this film?

Just curious, is all.

I hadn't seen anything on or about Jack Rebney on YT before going in to see the movie.

I've been obsessed with the clip since I saw a 1 minute excerpt of it back in 2002 on Viceland (in an article called "Touching People," which still has clips on there that I've never seen anywhere else).

What drew you to the movie if you weren't familiar with the outtakes beforehand?

What drew me? The reviews and the trailer, actually.

I had never ever heard of any Winnebago Man prior to seeing some comment about it relating it to Anvil, just a few days ago where after I promptly 'found' a copy of this documentary and found I liked it too. I like these sort of down to earth documentaries about ppl I've never met or seen before, living somewhere beyond the horizon, doing their thing.

I'd never seen any. A couple of friends of mine have been talking about it for a while and said the film was out, so I checked it out.

I'll be honest and say it didn't really live up to the billing (the clips). For some reason I found the towel one the funniest.

Never heard of him, and didn't buy all the 'funniest/most popular thing on the internet' commentary either. He came across then and now as some weird loser with an attitude problem. So what?

michael decker,

I'd never heard of the man, as well, before seeing the YT video about him then going to see the film. Never did. But still, his anger, honesty and rants amused me. I can see why the man would not be everyone's cuppa, though.

The more Ken Loach films I see, the more I think they need English subtitles.

I was working on a film in 1996, and the Winnebago Man VHS tape (yes, VHS!) was passed around the camera department. Way before Youtube, and the internet as what it is today.
I remember enjoying it.

reply

Oh ... so you saw it way back-in-the-daze, eh?
Cool!
I grew up in the VHS days ....

I had never heard of him or the YT clips,
Specific to a demographic I suppose.

reply

Yeah, dzeasley I agree. I was a bit shocked by this guy's notoriety to be honest with you and how many people had heard of the fellow before this film came out.

I've never heard of him. The wifes never heard of him. Asked a few mates. None of us have ever heard of him.

Manfrombelty, Yep, me neither. And, neither had anyone else heard of this tried and true Character before I and they saw this film, you know?
Odd, that.
