Why would Eddie correct Loser to Lover?

They did call themselves the Losers Club but I’m sure a boy of 12 or 13 wouldn’t want loser written on his cast for all to see. The girl who wrote it on the cast seemed to be a popular stuck up girl so when she flirted and tricked him he was embarrassed. He’d rather be called a lover than a loser.
