Having not the read the book since I were a kid...

Can someone remind me....
Do the dead kids LITERALLY float in the air like they did in this new adaptation?
I loved this film....But I'm not entirely sure I liked that aspect of it.

From what I remember the novel describes the 'float' as cocooned victims suspended into web-like strings while IT feasts. As adults they fight IT in the form of some sort of giant spider. I didn't like the movie depiction either..

Seeing people cocooned under the sewers is a bit of a cliche in monster movies now. I think that's why they changed it.

I did think that it could be something to do with IT being a giant spider in the book!
And that the floating kids were kind of in IT's web.
I said that to my friend n she looked at me like I was an idiot, glad it is not just me lol.

No. They just wanted the nostalgia of the famous 'we all float down here' quote without doing the work of having it payoff well at the end.
