Did you get confirmation? The AD says it's almost a wrap, suggesting there might still be some filming days left: https://www.instagram.com/p/BKg6HFJDA7V/

reply

Finn Wolfhard couldn't come to the Emmys because they were still filming as of yesterday. I assume the actors are pretty much done now and that they're now filming scenery-related shots.

I don't think they filmed in Sundays, at least not the kids. So that would mean he has to film today

reply

I've heard the last day of filming is on this Tuesday, September 20th. Maybe they finished on Friday.

The wrap party was on Saturday, at The Brazen Head in Toronto. Much of the cast was there, including Bill and some of the kids. The director, Anthony was also there. It was a lively affair, with karaoke and an open bar. All of the above mentioned sang karaoke. They also showed a couple teaser trailer type things..one a gag reel. I can say with all honesty that I was pleasantly surprised at how creepy I thought some of the scenes I saw looked. Just brief looks at things, but Pennywise looks great in my opinion.

Where you there too?

reply

Yes I was. It was a good atmosphere...open bar tends to help with that sort of thing.

I don't know who most of the cast was but Bill Skarsgard and the director Andres Muschietti were there until I left at 2:30 or so. Everybody seemed to be having a good time.

reply

I always thought a legitimate take on Pennywise would be a funny clown voice that the actor never breaks no matter how terrifying eveything else about him is. Did Bill do anything like that?

reply

Nice to hear the scenes are looking good, can't wait to see footage!

You're likely right that tomorrow is the last day, evidence points to it.

reply

Obviously it's all just opinion, but my opinion is that people are going to stop talking about Tim Curry as Pennywise.

I can't say anything more...kind of a useless insight I suppose, but some seem to think that this movie will have watered down scares and creepiness to appeal to a mass audience. I don't think this will be the case. I think Pennywise will provide some genuine chills and uncomfortable feelings to people.

Just my opinion, obviously.

reply

So if they had teaser trailers, does that mean they're gonna release one soon?

reply

It's often the case at a wrap party that there will be some sort of sneak peak. It wasn't done in a standard trailer style...more a behind the scenes thing for the people who worked on it. It had a few quick scenes mixed in with people having fun at work.

Still, in the brief movie footage shown the impression of what it will look like on film is there. Often times it's hard to know what the final result will look like, even if you're there when they do it.

Ahh I see, thanks for the answer, man

Can't wait to see Finn as Richie.

Definitely :D

That was pretty quick right? It seems like they got the filming done pretty fast or was this a normal timeline?

reply

It started at like, the beginning of summer? I think so they had a good few months to film (plus the filming they were doing recently.)

reply

Today is shooting day #59, supposedly the last one. That pretty long for a shoot, but they had mostly child actors, so probably less hours of filming a day.

reply

2 months of SHOOTING is pretty standard. It is right now in it's 3rd stage. :)

A film schedule is composed of three phases:

PRE-PRODUCTION: ✅
This is getting approval to make the film and putting the plan together for making the film. The script has to be written, budgets have to be planned, sets have to be designed and built. Actors have to be cast. Locations have to be scouted. Clearances have to be obtained. Costumes have to be sewn. Stunts have to be planned.

PRODUCTION: ✅
This is the 2-4 months that just ended - the actual filming.
When the Director calls "that's a wrap" on shooting,

POST PRODUCTION: ✖️
The film is right now just a mass of raw footage. It can take two to three months to edit the film. Reshoots and ADR (dialogue looping) may need to be done.

Most modern films also involve visual effects, rendering will have to be done, color grading will have to be done, sound editing will have to be done.

Foley artists will have to go through the film, scene by scene, recreating sounds that the microphones didn't or couldn't capture. An M&E (Music and Effects) soundtrack, sans vocals, will have to be produced to facilitate international dubbing.

The composer will have to create the music for the film and record it, scene by scene.
