how did they know to drug test the baby?

Is it because of the family's notoriety or standard protocol in West Virginia?

"Dope sick? Dope schmick!!"

reply

In my state, if you suspect drug use of the mother for any reason, you can test the baby and hold it for 72 hours.

She couldn't even wait until AFTER she left the hospital before doing lines of coke with her cousin....and then she has the gall to be hurt and angered by them keeping her newborn baby for observation?

It wasn't coke, it was pain pills. She was shown crushing them up just before snorting them.

reply

oh, then that's okay.

seriously though, how bad off is she when she can't even wait to get out of the hospital before snorting drugs???

I never said it was ok. I think it's deplorable and I'm glad the baby was taken from her. But let's at least be accurate.

I know you weren't saying that mink, I was joking, which is why said right afterwards "seriously though"

Sorry for any confusion, my joke was meant to show just how messed up that family really is, not a personal attack on you.

Peace, mon ami

I took it from what was being said about her ex, that it was Dennis the babies daddy, that had the baby taken/tested. I have to say something here though in defense of Kirk the babies mother. She voluntarily went into rehab to get off the pills and get clean for her baby. So that just goes to show that she is willing to give up anything and do anything for her kids. I don't think we have the right to judge her. I sincerely hope she is still clean and doing great for her kids.

I'm sure it was very hard for Kirk to go into rehab, and if you watch the movie w/ commentary from the producer and Johnny Knoxville, they talk about the fact that most families try really hard to get/keep their relatives clean, whereas the Whites were all trying to get Kirk to stay on drugs. So yeah, very comendable what she did.

That being said, I doubt she did it TOTALLY of her own volition. There's no proof because they didn't go into court with her, but I'm guessing part of the incentment of going into rehab was to help get her baby back. They even said in the credits that because she'd completed 3 months of rehab (or something like that) she was able to visit baby Monica on weekends.

But it's haaarrrrd.
