Why was it called 'Twice Born'

I just watched the movie and I am still not 100% sure why it was titled "Twice Born"?

Not looking for snarky or mean comments here. Just curious.

SPOILER ALERT!

I know she couldn't have a child of her own and so she got a surrogate but the surrogate got raped by soldiers so the baby she had never came from Emile Hirsh... help me out here.

for me the title twice born can have multiple meanings:
-bosnia being reborn after the war
-pietro a product of rape being able to have a second life having being 'adopted' by gemma
-gemma having the opportunity to live again with a baby and her new husband
-aska having the chance to see her son after all these years

hope that helps,

it's a dirty world Reich, say what you want

In fact "Twice Born" is not the original title.
The original one is "Venuto al mondo", which means "Brought into the World" and makes sense.

I thought it was because there are two stories of his birth...*SPOILERS AHEAD, on phone, so I cant encrypt it...*

Story 1 - He is the child of Emile Hirsch and that woman, and thats what Penelope Cruz thought, raising the child to believe that he is Cruz and Hirsch's child.

Story 2 - The true story, of Pietro's biological mom being raped, one which even Cruz was unaware of...

I guess you could include a third story, and that would be that Pietro thought Cruz was his mom...
