The trailer I saw said Mickey Rourke is an Academy Award winner....WTF?!

How the hell do the makers of the trailer mess that up?...Idiots.

I saw the trailer on Joblo.com.

Rodents of unusual size? I don't think they exist.

They're desperate to try to get people to see this (most likely awful) film. lol

reply

Indeed. A ploy to get the viewers interested. Well, the trailer is okay and it did nothing for me.

They are not idiots, they just think we are. He won an academy award for "The Wrestler". Thing is, it was a British Academy Award or "BAFTA". Still counts to any lawyer you ask.

Well aren't British Academy Awards called BAFTAs and not Academy Awards?

reply

Its still an Academy Award no matter how you look at it.

reply

True, but it's still very stupid for them to do that.

It is an Academy Award---just not an Oscar. Rourke also won a Golden Globe Award & a Sag Award--I think. He & Penn both won several each. I think more highly of a Film Critics Award (LA or NYC), because THOSE people actually are required (& paid) to have SEEN the films they're voting on. Oscar voters aren't.

Thanks for pointing that out! Never thought about it that way. I guess few people did.

have a nice life!

I just watched this at JoBlo and I think it just has to be a mistake (or an intentional lie). The BAFTA thing doesn't make sense because Bill Murray has won a BAFTA as well, but they still list him as a "Nominee" in the trailer that lists Rourke as "Winner".

Coincidentally, they both beat out Sean Penn for BAFTAs and lost to him at the Oscars in the respective years they were nominated.

reply

We can't fault the Brits for having better taste than their American counterparts.

Still, it's kind of odd they wouldn't mention the "Academy Award" for Murray as well.

reply

I bet any of us could get a Zimbabwean Academy Award for a small payment plus two boxtops. Then, we could refer to ourselves as "Academy Award Winners".

Atleast they didn't list Megan Fox as an Academy Award Winner/Nominee.

"You average, typical, blocking the view of a God-damn, average, victim Bastard!"

reply

Can't blame them for trying...........the real fool is the one who sees a movie just because the actor in it is believed to have won an award.

I mean they're great actors that never won an academy and there are academy award winners that are in crappy movies.
