Does Bill Murray at least bring some good to this film?

Yes he is good in every scene he is in and as a sinister gangster.

Is he the dark angel/Lucifer trying to claim our protagonist's soul upon his death? Why would he be called Happy, then?

Theres a funny little story he tells about that in the film about why he is called Happy when he is such a bad guy but yeah u hafto watch the movie to get all the info.

Its not a humorous part where his bland style really sinks, everyone comes off as a freak in this, but freaks on valium. The movie's on valium.
