She gave up Transformers for this?

Wow. Just call her the female David Caruso for making the worst. career decision. ever.

I don't think she gave up transformers, I think that it was taken away from her after she acted like an idiot.

reply

Or... maybe Michael Bay acting like an idiot... I'm glad, because this movie had a hell of a lot more meaning than transformers 3.

reply

She made a reference to Hitler and Spielberg had her fired. The movie wasn't terrible but wasn't very good either. Impressed that they got Bill Murray to do it.

Ever hear of a ritual killing? (Uncle Buck)

reply

I still think it was *beep* of Spielberg to do that. yes what she said was offensive but did Steven really need to use his pull/leverage to get some actress fired?

"Yes, I'd like a cheeseburger, please, large fries and a cosmopolitan!"

I've seen plenty of people on this website trying to degrade or insult people they're arguing with by implying they're idiots who could only ever get a job at a fast food place. My question is, why make up some name for an imaginary restaurant when you could just as easily say Mc Donald's or BK? That has never made sense to me.

reply

I think that was just the straw that broke the camel's back. She was always yapping and saying negative things about the films, the director, and everything else. Maybe once you become Meryl Streep and have a ton of quality acting gigs under your belt you can get away with that type of thing, but if you are nothing but a pretty girl with no real acting talent, you had better keep your mouth shut.

reply

Exactly.

Considering that he's Jewish and there's a good chance that some of his relatives are concentration camp survivors?

reply

You have to special to use a Hitler reference or analogy. Apparently, she isn't.

reply

Nope that's wrong. Spielberg said Michael Bay was lying about that and he never fired her. She quit.

reply

Yeah, I've read a lot of bad reviews about this film but it was actually good. Also nice turn of events in the end when they stated the fact that he was dead, so the action of the movie was in those few flashes when you actually realize you are about to die, like on the drug called DMT. The movie is dedicated to Zelda Glazer http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9E03E2DC113AF934A25751C1A9609C8B63

[deleted]

No it wasn't. He publicly posted inviting her back. Then she quit.

reply

Why not? Have you seen what she "gave up" and missed out on? Just got back from the cinema and I can honestly say Transformers 3 was the worst film i've ever seen!

reply

Money-wise, leaving the Transformers franchise is the most idiotic decision an actor or actress can make. Art-wise, film-wise and even industry-wise, no better choice could've been made. The Transformers franchise is nothing more than a CGI crew playground. No actor could ever land solid/serious roles by having -Michael Bay- on your resume.

Even though Passion Play lacked a lot of character depth and character development, the story (which makes me think this was once a short story) does however provide enough opportunity for an actor to flaunt its marbles.

reply

Well she didn't leave Transformers. She was fired apparently by direct order from Steven Spielberg for jokingly comparing Michael Bay's attitude on set to Hitler.

reply

She didn't jokingly refer to him as Hitler, she was far worse than that, being very hateful and critical of him.

Following this a number of crew from the film struck back and basically said that the success of the first Bayformers had turned her into a real diva and made her very disruptive and difficult to work with during the filming of Revenge of the Fallen.

I also remember seeing a lot of the panels and press tours for RotF, where in more than a fair share of them Megan was just sitting there contributing basically zilch, looking like she would rather be anywhere else and in one of them just sitting there chewing gum open mouthed.

That said I've seen lots of Bay behind the scenes too, much like James Cameron he has a tendency to ride everyone all the time to get the best out of them, and I can see where this can make him seem like as a bit of a bastard for doing so, but whether he deserved being compared to Hitler, that's probably a stretch.

She didn't give it up, but yeah, one of the biggest career fuuk ups ever.

"Time to find out..."

reply

Honestly, I think Michael Bay probably is like Hitler on set, and getting away from a third movie in a series is a good idea anyways.. Don't get me wrong, I hate this girl's acting, but being in Passion Play over Transformers 3 is probably going to help her career.

reply

"being in Passion Play over Transformers 3 is probably going to help her career."

I don't know... I only found out about 'Passion Play' because I was looking on IMDb. It wasn't on in the cinema, straight to DVD. At least that's how it was in the UK. The film got no attention...

"Time to find out..."

reply

It may not have gotten the initial attention, but I think it's going to become a popular movie in the indie world.. There is a lot of criticism on it, but it's one of those movies that is going to have it's own cult following.

reply

no this movie is not going to be a cult classic. There is absolutely nothing watchable or distinctive about this movie, it is completely blah.

reply

Transformers 3, while not an artistic vehicle that would allow an actor to give a tour de force performance had to have more going for it than this film, certaily it would been better for Megan Fox.

reply

She didn't "give up" anything. Spielberg, der Führer, had her fired.

reply

She gave up Transformers for this?

I'm glad because I'd watch "Passion Play" above the Transformer flicks any day.
