Why does this movie makes the zoo guy look evil?

it´s outrageous, penguins are noble animals in extinction ways and this movie says that the people who want penguins to live in zoos are evil.
in a zoo those penguins would have a much better life that in the wild.

I don't think it did make him look evil, to be honest. I think Zookeeper Coulson genuinely did have the penguins' best interests at heart, and the death of the penguin egg showed the Popper family's selfishness in wanting to keep the penguins for themselves. They realised this themselves, hence the ending.

It didn't make him look evil, which was one of the movie's biggest problems; it had no real antagonist. When you watch the movie, you know he's making a very logical and reasonable case while Popper is being a bit nuts. They should have replaced the zoo man with some criminals or something.

First of all, this is only a movie. But having said that, the zoo guy was made to appear like a villain in the film. He might really be interested in the welfare of the penguins, but then he displayed unnecessary zeal in watching over Popper's life through the security cameras, etc. What did he stand to gain? He actually looked more like Coulson monitoring alien activities. It is probably a fault of the script, and perhaps the character needed a more convincing motive - like if the penguins belonged to a very rare species and he wanted to capture and sell them for a huge sum of money. As it was, I am not sure why Coulson should have taken so much trouble.

Actually I have more trouble with the kids and their mother. The kids considered it a great sin for Popper to let the zoo guy take the penguins away. But wait, they didn't mind the penguins messing up their father's apartment, and all they wanted was to play with them in their weekend visits! If my kids want any pets that we don't already have, they better be ready to share the responsibility in taking care of them.
