Bakwaas!

What a waste of time.

reply

Sorry to say but this fast pace thriller was not your cup of tea.

reply

Seems you loved it...correct??

fast pace!...are you out of you mind???
even without any real story it went on and sucked for more than 2:30 Hrs...boring as hell...at a point I stopped caring at all about the movie which lifted plot and scenes from Bond movies and Da Vinci Code and made it boring as hell
they said that they only need to earn 30cr...They made a movie with star cast...I guess they will:(

I hear Saif has planned for 5 sequels....Please we don't want any of this crap again...

reply

Scenes from Bond and Da Vinci code. Would you please let me know which ones?

reply

Oops!
Sorry to Write Da Vinci Code....I meant to say Angel & Demons :)

And yes the scene where Vinod takes the bomb in chopper...copied from Angel & Demons.

In whole movie Saif tries to pretend like Bond, it was all visible. I mean their are other good movies based on agents take Bourne, but they were inspired by Bond as Saif himself is stylish.

Also I happen to remember a Bond movie where Bond was after a nuclear device and there are more movie with the concept.

I also happen to read Saif's interview he said that during shooting director used to say that...'ok this is the Bond moment'.

reply

First Angel & Demons. Any dumb person will know that a bomb has to be taken away from population through aerial route. So it is no rocket science for which you need to watch Angel and Demons. The other common way is to dump it into the sea. But obviously, in 5 minutes you can't reach the shore from New Delhi :)

Now The Bond movies. In my opinion, Agent Vinod is the most unbond like agent I have ever seen. He is completely desi. His dry humor and getting into the trouble is so unbond like. And please don't even think that Bond movies showed the nuclear bomb 1st time. even before that many other movies have used it as danger to the world.

If these 2 things made you hate Agent Vinod, I can only laugh.

reply

LAMO...
You didn't get my?
I said...movie was boring....and they copied scenes/story/plot/music form some of the good movies and ruined it....These are the reasons why I hate it.

And this desi version of bond is the thing I hated most...this is what I have been telling...the took bond and ruined it.

reply

It's Sriram Raghavan buddy. He's a movie-buff and all his movies are inspired/tribute to his favs. If he doesn't take inspiration form other movies/books, we wouldn't have had the masterpiece, Johnny Gaddaar. I would pick JG over any Bond or Bourne films.

reply

After reading your post I asked 18-20 guys and everyone was so P-Issed off with this one...

So I guess your cup was empty for to be filled with any crap

reply

It isn't the best film of the year, but it's not trying to be either. I thought it was a fairly well-made and enjoyable entertainer.

reply

Even the greatest of movies have few loopholes. This is no exception. But the passion and effort that went into this movie clearly shows. The Rabita song sequence in itself is quite an achievement. Overall a big step ahead for bollywood action flicks in my opinion.

reply

The Rabita song sequence.....

Watch Khoya Khoya chaand....in Shaitaan...that was an achievement...not this one...this was ok given they shot this in one go.

Did you notice in this song...sometimes Saif shoots like he is playing Video game...and he is so lame playing video game :D

Cinematography was good IMO, but they have to stop coping scencs/story/plot.

And yes how can I forget...they copied music too....at a moment it was similar to Bourne, then I heard 'we are human being' music and it went on...then finally I stopped caring...Lays with Tumpsup is awesome....you can enjoy then any where...even watching AV.

reply

/*
"It isn't the best film of the year"
*/

atleast we agree on this part.

/*
'I thought it was a fairly well-made and enjoyable entertainer'
*/

Respect you thoughts...but it was not at all entertainer for me though:(

Only thing I liked about AV was it didn't had many songs...and I hated the Mujra by Kareena....

Also it tried to be too many films but couldn't become any of them....Movies of this kind brings shame to Indian cinema...where they copy scenes or story and ruin it. They are even not good in copying.

reply

I agree @indic. It was quiet a relief to watch such a visual delight on indian cinema screen. I was entertained.

reply

Those bunch of 18-20 guys were like you I suppose. You guys should enjoy Bodygaurd and Don series. Good for you.

reply

And you alone are the ghost of Jaasos Karamchand...who couldn't travel all over the world and your wish came true with AV and Guess what every country has people who speak hindi and all Mafia every where are Indians, now AV can solve any case in the world.

I like Don Series...Don2 was not that much good, but it was not boring like AV....

I hate bodygaurd, but fact is in theater when AV was playing everyone was sleeping but in case of BG I saw people dancing :D

I gave it a higher rating than BG and only because of 10-15 min portion of the movie. Only diff between BG and AV is that AV sucked and BG sucked badly.

reply

You revealed your true self by saying you liked Don series more.

*Mafia every where are Indians*
I guess you were sleeping through out the movie. In Somalia, Mafia were locals. In Russia, Ram kapoor was pakistani. In Riga, again locals. In Afganistan, again locals. Prem Chopra was half moroccan. In pakistan, no need to say mafia were locals. And in Russia, the lady who sold the bomb was also russian.

Take a chill pill boss, and wait for next don/dabang/bodygaurd. This movie was not made for guys like you.

reply

I don't want to give any thought to this movie about who was speaking what....just want to forget it...like Mausam...I don't even listen Mausam's songs....
but just tell me If every one was so much local...then how come movie was in Hindi????AV was barley 30 mins in India.

I will wait for Don and Dabaang 2 for sure...but you don't have to wait I hear they will make 5 Sequels of AV...

....wait will they??? because I don't see this movie touching 100 Cr mark and Saif was hoping to cross 200 Cr...what a joke...

Next thing I see this movie around IMDB rating 5.0 +/- 0.5....I think it will be 4.5....Guess what both Don have rating 7.0 and Dabaang has above 6.0 with very high number of viewers at IMDB...lets see how many votes/ratings AV gets on IMDB....

Take this as a challenge...Mr Karamchand.....You just gained this status by your comment..."You revealed your true self by saying you liked Don series more."

Goog luck to your fast paced AV...

PS: Now after reading your comments I am feeling sleepy...are you hired by AV to defend it on AV??? result is I wasted more than 2:30 Hrs watching the movie and wasting more:(

reply

[deleted]

Exactly. I don't know why critics and many people are not ready to accept that this movie is really good. It respects the intelligence of public. Sadly majority of indian public is not used to such stuffs. They want screenplay which is easy to their senses and spoon feeds them.

reply

Are you and infy-abhishek married by any chance? Seems like that from your arguments above!

I was planning to watch this movie and hence I went through your discussion. You don't need to give the weak argument that 18-20 of your friends didn't like the movie...Just compare the ratings. The same director made Johnny Gaddaar which was pretty good thriller and has rating of 7.9/10. However Agent Vinod is rated at 5.4/10, which means its not that great.

Also note that imdb gives breakup of the ratings. Johny Gaddaar was rated at same levels by under 18 and 18-29 groups. Whereas Agent Vinod is rated quite high by under 18 group when compared to 18-29 group. What does this mean? This implies the plot/ideas in Agent Vinod are nothing new, but new enough to impress the youngsters as their cup is empty. I guess I will wait till this comes out on DVD.

reply

true what a bakwas movie,i tend to enjoy my indian films but this was not 1 of them,ok acting was ok,but sum of the shoot outs in the film was just absolutely pathetic

reply

This movie may not be the best of Cinema or very amazing but still it was well made. I loved the styling and by styling i don't mean the cloths or locations, but the script..the sequences..the flow of the movie. The encounter with the LTTE guy was just brilliant.
And those who're blaming it for copying scenes every spy movie at one point of time looks similar may it be Bond, Bourne, North By North West or even spoofs like Austin Powers..they do look similar. Talking about carrying bomb in Helicopter!! Watch Anubhav Sinha's DUS its climax have a similar scene and DUS came 4 years before Angels & Demons, and if you talk about music please read Credits properly they've given due credit to original Composers and don't talk about Pungi song it was never a copy.

On the whole a Good movie but over-criticised

reply

My viewes exactly. Watched a few bonds and felt sad to find that we gobble down hollywood but let our own movies down. Yes..i was looking forward to some mind-blowing action piece which was not there....but overall a damn nice movie...specially loved the 2nd half which just flew. And anchoring it to present geo-politics was cool..so was the last strategem of Vinod for a very very interesting climax.

reply

I didnt think this movie was a waste of time at all.

You see, now I realize how dumb it is to believe rumors(reviews) and not making your own choice. I did not see the movie for a long time because I read that it was just a 'wanna-be'. But today I saw it on TV and I was surprised how well it was made. It was definitely a very stylish and detailed movie. And am not saying this by the standards of a bollywood-movie, but rather by international standards.
I am a huge fan of espionage based books and movies, and I think AV and Don2 was really well-made.

All the action scenes, the characters, the plot was very well-thought and well-executed.

But yes, the script could have been tighter, it kept loosing my interest in between. They should have kept the script as tight and 'on-edge' as they did in Johnny Gaddar.

Its a surprisingly well-made movie for a more sophisticated audience, the aam-janta would not really connect with the details of such movies, and might end up calling this movie a 'Bakwaas. ;)

reply

Its fantastic film
