The ending

Wow what a disappointment. Too short, not explained and just plain weird. But overall was a brilliant game - I think it has great replay value.

Did you have questions about the plot or ending? I could probably answer some of them.

When I played the first F.E.A.R, I felt it was missing a soul but the action was absolutely brilliant. This one is missing soul and action isn't that great either + it's copying Crysis. What happens to Becket is what I'd like to know. Ending was very dull and I couldn't take the whole game seriously.. not scary, not convincing, clichéd and so on..

No one knows what Becket's new fate will be, except to be stuck to an obsessive dead woman and a (most likely) psychotic baby.

Is this going to be episodic Half Life 2 style, as it ended way too abruptly and felt cheated. Luckily I rented this game.

The scares were repetitive and seen before in the first game, so didn't work half as well as in the original.

Actually, the scares were entirely different from the first game- something that annoyed many of the original fans. Though I personally was annoyed the most by the lack of little Alma.

I did find a lot of the scares were in similar to the first game. But not as varied as the first so I agree.
Alma was exceptionally creepy in the first game, but someohow I'd gotten used to her and think she'd lost her edge as a character.
They did try and develop the plot which worked to a degree, but I think they should have either emphasised more on Alma like you said, or tried something completely new.
After all scary dead little girl with dark wet hairs a bit of a ring rip-off in the first place, and overall a bit of cliche.

Being that Alma is the face of the series, I'm not sure what they could do with her that would count as 'new'. She's a pissed off ghost, and that path has been tread a million times before. What made F.E.A.R. so good was the way Alma scared you, which they seemed to remove almost entirely from this game, simply having her walking away from you, at a distance that it didn't really surprise or scare you. The few times she grabbed you were scary, but it wasn't enough to bolster the lack of little Alma or sudden scares in claustraphobic situations.
