I disagree. Ian's humour poured out of the film.

I think the screenplay had plenty of wit – though sometimes at the expense of characterization.

The single fact that it placed the oldest music joke of them all into Ian's mouth ("What do you call somebody who hangs around with musicians? A drummer!") discredits the screenplay all by its self.
