I just don't know what it takes to safisfy some moronic critics. This movie is one of the best I've had the pleasure to watch. Cuba played the soldier to the point of excellence. Great cast, story line, and exectuion (no pun intended). Gooding plays his role displaying his full potential. As for those that consider this a "B" movie, go get a life.

Must have been cage-cleaning day at the asylum, and the terminals were left unguarded.

The ~6 rating is charitable. Hugely.

What I had in mind was boxing the compass.

I completely agree with the OP. Gooding Jr. and Ferrer were flawless in their roles. Solid 9 from me (the ending annoyed me too much for a 10).
