Great movie, great actors

Just saw the movie on Stockholm Filmfestival. I had a foggy idea of what the movie was about but I was totally blown away by it. It's really hard to watch though. Mostly because you feel frustrated not really understanding the psychology behind the characters actions and choices. But this is also the strenght of the film, in my opinion. It gives depth to the characters.

When the screening was over and the director, producer and the main actor came to talk about it, I found myself almost unable to look at the main actor. THAT'S how good he was. See the movie and you'll understand what I'm talking about.

I'm buying this when it's released on DVD.

Totally agree with you. The movie is a lot better than I expected and the acting was top notch. Certainly it ain't a movie for the most conservative and prudish people since the film explores a taboo subject (incest) and the psychological damage that it causes. This is a movie that many people may find hard to "like". Nevertheless open-minded cinephiles should appreciate how splendidly acted and how efficiently directed it was. Besides of being thought-provoking and provocative (without being exploitative).
A perfect movie this is not, though. In addition it won't win any popularity contest amongst the self-righteous folks. However it's a movie that will linger on your mind for days and weeks, unlike most Hollywood trash that we have already forgotten 1 min after we left the theatre.
9/10

PS: Kudos to Marimar Vega (Ana), Darío Yazbek Bernal (Daniel) and director Michel Franco. I'll looking forward to see their next projects.

Darío Yazbek Bernal was very bad. I know this was his first movie and that he came from a family of thespians, but definitely isn't his thing. Maybe he can do better, but he ruined his movie.
