aka The State of Divinity or The Smiling Proud Wanderer

Just watched it again for the second time. This is one of my all-time faves. It's an adaptation of one of Jin Yong's (Louis Cha) novels. This is perhaps one of his most well refined stories.

This was a mainland production so it was (supposedly) truer to the novel. There is much subtlety to absorb. One can't help but cringe at and at the same time sympathize with the protagonist's naivety. The first ten episodes are a bit slow, but the tension is built up nicely.
