I feel so sorry for (spoilers)

Bob.

He is an example of how some children who have survived abduction, abuse and rape in their childhood, grow up to be damaged adults if they are not 'treated' (therapy).

They did not believe him probably (which is bad enough) and the experience messed up his head up. At the end he rather committed suicide to end his own misery.

That just made me really, really sad. This film made me think about the recent news item about the large child pornography network being shut down. It had 45.000 members who were actively 'producing' pornography. Those poor kids..

Back to Prisoners: When I tuned the fi was probably half an hour away so I did not catch much of Alex's background story.

Was he mentally 'disabled' or just also severely traumatized?

Holly "waged a war with God" thinking taking children away from their families made people lose faith.

Poor guy was drugged continuously with an LSD-ketamine cocktail. Thankfully, news article showed later him reunited with his family.

Actually, you're thinking of Alex. Bob was the young man that collected children's clothing, applied fake blood, and had snakes in the containers. He was a total casualty of his kidnapping by the evil Jones couple...and shot himself.

Obviously, Bob was never able to reunite with his family like Alex. However, Alex now has psychopathic tendencies. They showed him hanging his dog by the neck with the leash. He should've been placed into a specialized mentally facility. He's bound to hurt his birth family or pets somehow.

Yes, he/she is talking about Alex because he is answering MinaGodiva's question, which was : “I did not catch much of Alex’s background story. Was he mentally disabled or just also severely traumatized?”
