I was so convinced that the pit that Keller was thrown in was an underground maze. Did anyone else think that?

Not really but I was hoping there would be a maze somewhere....anywhere in the movie. I enjoyed the movie but it could have been better.

There was. It was a paper maze with no solution. The kids were told they could go back to their families when they solved the maze.

It also symbolized the mental trap the victimized children were made to feel. That's why Paul Dano couldn't tell anyone about the kidnapped girls. His "aunt" had created an impossible-to-break grip on his mind through years of abuse.
