How did Jackman not get nominated for this?

Jackman is so underrated. This and his role in the prestige should have landed him 2 nominations. Man is an amazing actor.

reply

Agreed. Him in this and Prestige were much more Oscar worthy than his Les Mis nomination

Russell Crowe tweeted then why he voted for Hugh Jackman as Oscar Best Actor in LES MISERABLES --

*the character arc ( for Jean Valjean), and
*the degree of difficulty ( of the portrayal)

Having been in the same movie, Russell was in a very good position to make the assessment.

Hugh also gave excellent portrayals in The Prestige, Prisoners, The Fountain, and Australia!

I haven't watched Les Misérables (2012) yet, but I agree with you! He gave me the chills with his performance in Prisoners.

reply

I was thinking the same, his such a talented actor, you can really feel his anguish.

reply

Exactly!! As well as Paul Dano, his performance is chilling.

Jackman, Gyllenhaal and Leo could easily have been nominated. Dano too. In fact the movie is just filled with terrific acting led by Jackman and Gyllenhaal. What a tour de force in acting and movie making. Best movie of 2013 and overlooked (of course) at the Oscars.

Caesar. Is. Home.
