Can someone help me figure out the story with the red whistle? It was missing in the beginning of the film and the girls went looking for it. In the end, Keller found it in the pit, but Anna was wearing it around her neck at the same time, saying they had found it before they were taken.

Her mom said she thought she was confused and bought her a new one. But she *did* find it and left it in the hole which is why Keller is blowing it at the end.

It was an ambiguous ending. We shall never know whether anyone found him before he died from loss of blood. Anyway, serves the barsteward right for all the pain he'd caused.

I think Little Tyke is trying to avoid being flagged for bad language, by garbling a word that literally refers to the child of an unmarried couple and that starts by bas...

There was nothing ambiguous at all about the ending!

I know they didn't show him being rescued, I don't think smart movies have to, but I think it's pretty clear that Detective Loki heard the whistle at the end of the film. I guess it's up to the audience to decide whether or not he is ultimately saved.
