If it weren’t for the success of Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games I don’t think we would have gotten a female-led Star Wars film or a female-led comic book film. At least not for another decade. I wouldn't consider Mad Max: Fury Road in this discussion despite its strong female presence and if you're angry at the female leads to be mad at this one this shift the narrative, I'm not though

I am not mad at the amount movies having female leads. It does bother me that so many make it the only important thing about a film.
