Caesar

I somehow don't think Caesar even realises that they're kidnapping kids and forcing them to kill each other. He seems like a very nice and completely normal guy, I find it difficult to believe that he actually supports the games.

I think Caesar absolutely does realize the nature of the games. But he has found his niche as host and commentator on
the games. So he ignores the reality and presents the games as the entertainment that the capitol citizens see it as.
He is amoral.

reply

He's rationalizing. He has convinced himself:
1. The districts were traitorous, ungrateful and wrong for rebelling.
2. The districts are sincerely repentant for their crimes and happy to make amends by offering tributes for the games.
3. The tributes love participating because it gives them a chance to make amends and give back to the capitol that supports them and their families.

How different is he from the polarized hatemongers of this world who live equally destructive lives?
