Mediocre plot, great story of friendship *Mini review*

Ok, it's no Thelma & Louise, Martyrs or even The Life Before Her Eyes, but as a fan of dark best friend themed horror/thriller films, I have to say this was a sweet and relatable story for those out there looking for a nice story about two best friends.

The chemistry was there, I think. It wasn't a cheesy film, no cheesy dialogue. And there wasn't the sense of competition you often get with a film starring two remarkably stunning, young actresses.

There were also no lesbian undertones (where Jennifer's Body failed), which further propagates the idea that not all strong loves and bonds have to be from the sexual kind. Steph tried her damn hardest to find Ellie - risking her life on many occasions just to find her best friend.

The song that plays at the end of the film was a lovely and almost haunting tribute/stream-of-consciousness of Stephanie and Ellie's love. It rounded up the film beautifully, just as Martyrs' film reel of the two best friends playing together when they were children did.

So again, the film overall wasn't great, or groundbreaking. But it's definitely a cute and relatable story to watch with your best friend and, if you're into that kind of thing as I am, will honestly be the only reason why you'd give this film a chance and why you'll like it.

I agree with your review. My problem is that with two hot gals in a creepy town and so many suspicious characters the movie tried to stay a little bit real, friendship, desperation, regret, isolation as mentioned.
I think it may have done better if it had stuck to the formula it was trying to ignore, more horror, more flesh, more deaths.
Its dullness would have been acceptable if it "was based on a true story" but alas no
PS no lesbain undertones is funny seeing Heard is a lesbian (according to wiki) and was a producer I believe
