I advocate torture for far less

The kids in this movie were abused WAY beyond what typically happens in high school. There are some abject psycho bullies like that built dude who broke the Indian kid's camera, but they are rare. However, I'd like to point out that it really doesn't matter how "bad" the bullies were in this movie. I would advocate torture for the slightest provocation.

Here's how the real world works - you physically intimidate someone like in this film, you get shot/stabbed/hurt. That's the major difference between high school and adult life. People eventually grow up and stop caring. The switch gets turned off, and they would gladly do whatever to whomever for whatever reason.

It's the reason people yell at football on TV, or get frustrated when the kids don't fight back in a movie like this (Obviously they do later, but it's hard to watch the beginning). We can see ourselves doing the right thing, but we want others to do the right thing.

Anyway. I just know for a fact that if anyone were to break my camera, or put me against a wall, I would literally murder them. I would feel nothing. I would lose zero sleep. It would be a knife in the guts, and one tough guy whining like a little girl because the real world just caught up with him.

That's the punchline - the toughest guys in the world (and the most loud mouthed women) all whine when they get stabbed. I know this from experience. The real world shows them that bravado is for people who aren't willing. You don't need to bully others, run your mouth, brag, etc, if you are willing.

That facade crumbles when they get stuck. *beep* gets "real" and they become the terrified, sad, helpless people that they feel that they are on the inside. And that folks - that right there is worth seeing. :)
