Who wanted to kill the 'cool' kids?

They went through life tormenting others for no good reason, they shouldn't have been surprised at what happened to them. What the freaks did was good for them,
every bully a**hole needs to have a similar rude awakening IMO. The era of turning the other cheek is over...

I didn't want them killed. Maiming them is better. They have to go tthrough life with whatever terrible thing happened to them.

Good point!

I actually agreed with Dane (the leader) on this one; killing the bullies would have been more merciful. I'm not saying I like it, but I think it would have been a kinder fate than what they got (also not commenting on anything about whether or not the bullies deserved it).

Like I said in another part of this thread, problem there is that medical technology these days could conceivably result in all of the disfigured kids at least somewhat healed except for Bradley. But perhaps that is good enough since we saw hints that Bradley really is a full blown sociopath and coward and dirtbag, so at the very least he is permanently scarred even if none of the other kids were. At least, this is how we can look at it from the perspective of the bully victims. Like others here I don't really want to delve into the extent into which Bradley or the other kids actually deserved this fate at all.

killing them would turn them into martyrs

*beep* that

let them know what it is like to be a freak
disfiguring and maiming them is the perfect revenge

I thought the cool kids, and the freaks were both pretty retarded.

I think disfiguring them, and letting them live is greater Punishment. Kind of reminded me of the end of Princess Bride. Wesley is describing "To the Pain", which was a far worse fate than death to the Prince, so the Prince gave up.

At least, they are not necessarily permanent unless this movie was meant to be set in like the mid 90s or earlier and we just missed that. Thing is, these days facial reconstructive surgery and skin healing technology is much more advanced nowadays and so after a week or so you could presume pretty much all the kids except Bradly [and Kelli who we had seen killed herself] could conceivably become back to at least sort of normal, physically anyway. Mentally and emotionally would still be an entirely different story of course.

There's a difference between "wanting" to kill or maim people and actually doing it. If anyone things that anyone deserved to be mained/disfigured/killed as a result of being a bit of a dick to the uncool kids, then they're *beep* retards.

I really think you were meant to see both sides on this. Yeah the 'cool kids' were jerks (and perhaps worse) in the early part of the movie but what was done to them was a total escalation of aggression.

I particularly was uncomfortable when the one guy (only saw it once so I don't recall his name) got the blade in the back and was paralyzed. I've spent the last year (due to spinal trauma) unable to walk so that hit pretty close to home. I've had surgery and I am improving but I still have a long way to go and no one, no matter who they are, deserves a lifetime of that.

No, you're wrong. He did deserve it. That's the end of that.

If you had any idea what being paralyzed was like you wouldn't say that. It's about the worst thing that could happen to a person outside of being totally paralyzed (arms AND legs) or dying.

As it turns out, since my original post, it was discovered that I DIDN'T have any spinal cord injury and I was instead suffering from a particularly nasty bout of Lyme Disease.

I've been treated and that's gone but I still went for well over a year of not being able to use my legs and so I'm having to attending intensive physical therapy just regain what I lost.

No one would deserve that and no one deserves to be paralyzed for the rest of their lives either.

reply

Let me clarify this.

1: That sucks to hear. And that has nothing to do with someone DESERVING to be paralyzed. What happened to you has NOTHING to do with REVENGE on another person.

2: You're wrong. Sadistic monsters deserve that. Especially because they will continue on with their lives without the filth of their actions costing them. I think paralysis is a wonderful punishment.

We're basically not going to agree on this. I understand that your personal experience gives you a platform for an opinion, but as a sociopathic monster, I also have a platform advocating torture/maiming.

Again, we're not talking about some random person from the internet being paralyzed. We're talking about someone who abused others simply because. They deserve what they get.

Well, I think there are better ways. Also, my memory of this movie is VERY fuzzy but about the worst thing I can recall the 'cool kids' doing is breaking some expensive object of one of the other characters.

No object, no matter the cost calls for such a reprisal. I don't recall any of the 'cool kids' killing or maiming anyone. Maybe if the one guy we were talking about had also paralyzed one of them it might be more 'eye for an eye' but even if the guy beat one of them up it's still too far. Bruises heal, this generally doesn't.

In general, from what I remember of the movie, none of the responses were equal to what was done to them first and that makes, no matter who much you hate the 'cool kids', rooting for them very difficult.
