One high school revenge story where a sequal would make sense (spoilers)

In this case, it would be interesting to have some sort of follow up. And I think for multiple reasons. One would be since that since the *cool* kids weren't actually killed this time, including Kelli who may have possibly survived since we only saw her attempt suicide not actually kill herself on screen, it would be interesting to see how they would act as a result of this and how their treatment of others actually changed. With facial and skin reconstruction being what it is, it is plausible to presume that all the kids except Bradley would after a week or so be relatively healed and physically at least somewhat back to normal - though mentally and emotionally of course would clearly be a completely different story. If Bridget and Heather, say within a few days (the film stopped the day after the kidnapping) somehow were able to get their faces at least sort of healed, could it still be argued that the emotional trauma alone meant their fate was at least in some ways still worse than death?

And it would be interesting to see what would happen if a whole new group of bullies were introduced and to see how the popular bullies and the outcasts who weren't involved in this would react to them. It would lead to a multitude of possibilities since the new set of bullies would not only be loathed by the outcasts but also conceivably by the popular kids of the one. Since if they even ended up spending a few days as freaks before being physically healed, some of them might end up having the same hatred of narcissistic bullies that they once were. But maybe I am the only one here, what do you say?

It depends how well executed the idea is; oftentimes sequels just turn into awful remakes with the stories already written out. We want to see a continuation of the story, not a line-for-line repeat of the first.

I don't know, I would like to see some kind of aftermath since they didn't really show everyone (I was waiting to see that one guy dealing with life in a wheelchair, something I've spent the last year doing but they didn't show him).

I just don't know how it would work out. I mean if they get fixed up and return to bullying they've learned nothing, if they become bullied and retaliate as was done to them they're no better than the original outcasts.

Horror wise not sure there's a story here. Maybe they should release a special edition DVD with a special feature like a mockumentary set one year later or something showing how their coping and what's going on.

While it was implied by the leader, I doubt that the one guy was guaranteed a life in a wheelchair. I saw the movie a long time ago, so I may have the details wrong, but all the kid did was repeatedly stab him in the center area of the back, and even then, aren't they developing surgeries for that type of injury. At best the guy was probably temporarily wheelchair bound, or injured enough to bench him from a football career. Either way, the guy probably would've commited suicide, or hated those kids forever, but I don't see him admitting to himself "I deserve this". I like seeing a bully get their butts kicked, but crippling someone for life for something like that seems to be disproportionate.

It's been ages but I'm thinking the ending voiceover, news broadcast or whatnot, said he was permanently paralyzed. Don't know if that would be true if they revisited the story or not.

In any case, the thing that really bugged me about the movie was the escalation. Again I haven't seen it in awhile but the worst I remember the bullies doing was busting one of the guy's expensive video camera.

That was surely a dick move but worth killing or maiming over? I think not.

I get what they were going for as that what the real life school shooting were like. They were bullied so they go in and shoot the place up but if we're meant to feel bad for the bullied then their reaction is way over the top.

I could see something more along the line of "Revenge of the Nerds" or even that episode of "American Dad" where Steve got even with the cheerleaders because he thought they did something to his overweight girlfriend but then that would make the movie more of a comedy than a horror movie.

If they wanted to stay in horror movie levels then maybe they should've had the bullies do something on the same level, maybe they were pranking one of the kids and something went wrong and HE ended up in a chair or a coma or seriously hurt and his friends master mind the revenge plot because of that. Especially, if the bullies got off by just saying it was a prank and it was an accident or something.

I just feel that it has to an even playing field if you really want the viewers to side with the bullied. Maybe they didn't. Maybe they just wanted to make a horror movie and didn't care if you sided with one side or the other.

Yeah maybe, but still aren't they making surgeries for that kind of thing?

Some, some can't be helped. It's really on a case by case basis and depends on what the cause is and how bad it is.

I'm in a wheelchair due to Lyme Disease. Now the disease itself has been treated and, through physical therapy, I'm getting better but I haven't really walked much outside of therapy for going on four years.

In real life there are not guarantees and even in the cases where there IS an medical fix it can takes months (or even years) for the damage to heal.

In any case this is just a movie but it kind of sends the wrong message as nothing that was done to the 'bullied' is even close to what was done to the 'bullies' in the end but maybe that was what the movie makers were saying that situations like this build, over time, and only escalate.

Like I said it's been awhile.

I think it would be an interesting short, for YouTube, but it wouldn't make a whole movie. Probably not the new group of bully part.
