really? no one else thought this film was great?

i really enjoyed this movie and i thought that the acting was wonderful!! regardless of whether you liked the subject matter, you have to at least agree the acting was good.

also, the only horror scene i noticed was the Audition one. now i'm going to look up what others gave them inspiration. :D <---horror/gore fan!

I liked it. I expected it to be the same horror BS but it surprise me! The acting was well done especially from the girl who played Emily. Honorable mentions goes to Kurtis, vet dude, and weird curly-hair kid!

I thought it was pretty okay.

I thought it was pretty good, it started and ended slow but was great for a bit in-between.

Acting was so much better than what is usually in modern STV horror films.
I watch quite a lot of these filsm & thsi oen stuck out from the usual poorly executed dreck available.
I was pleasantly surprised. Made the film an enjoyable watch.

And it looked like a much bigger budgeted film than i guess it really was.
Also good cinematography elevates low budget films such as this one.

I thought it was good. The acting was ok. The outcasts I thought did a great job but one kid in trojan armor I thought acted a little weak. I thought it was funny the sound effect for the guns, it sounded like a pop from a wine bottle.

reply

It must be hard to have good sound design for firearms due to the nature of sound recordings. However, these firearms sounds seemed pretty accurate to me (except for the reduction in the loudness). Most movie firearms sounds are way too loud / over the top because the sound designers add effects to the shots to make them sound more powerful or cool.

I saw this for the first time last weekend and it's on again tonight and I'm actually going to stay up and watch it again. For some reason, I really do like this movie...

Yeah; I caught the second half on SyFy tonight, and I was glad that Comcast HD here (left coast) is three hours ahead of regular def, because an hour after the end of the movie on HD, I was able to catch it from the beginning on the regular channel.

Great movie, although I can see how someone with no real understanding of what the bullying victims endure and the long-term effects it has (people such as the deeply insecure narcissist-bullies themselves, or people who got lucky and were never caught up in the bullying context) would have trouble understanding its many strengths. In particular, it has good writing, including the dialog. This movie's script was well thought out: it's not an escapist piece of drivel written by a victim as a way of expressing their pain and rage. The dialog is smart and believeable, and the plot is relatively solid. The comparison to Bachman's (King's) novella Rage is apt.

The movie has its problems, of course, like the plot-device delay when the black kid reaches the vet's house only to be ignored, knocked unconscious, and tied up for just the right amount of time, or like how unlikely it would be that such a large conspiracy (planning the event) could be kept secret - especially when the bullying continued after the plan had been formed. (In that context, I think it likely that after being attacked again at school, one of the bullying victims might inadvertently blurt out a threat or some other disclosure of the plan, having been emboldened by the plan and the restoration of some small sense of power they must have felt.)

But overall, it's a great movie, and worth a watch - particularly for parents concerned about their high-school age children, or people trying to understand how things like the Columbine shootings could happen.

I thought it was very good. Good acting all around and managed to be a little disturbing and thought provoking, which is unfortunately rare for horror films.

Conform or be cast out

Just watched it. IMHO, it's not great, but rather okay. The pacing is quite off (too slow throughout the movie), and even if the point is that now you sympathize with the bullies turned victims, the torture doesn't go far enough (And again, is too slow).

Yeah it's a decent "After Dark" / "8 Films to Die For" movie, but that's not a high standard. Marc Donato, the former guy nobody cared about for several seasons on Degrassi, is not a good actor. You don't really feel his bullying pain like the other ones, who actually can act.

I know it's ultra low budget and all, but this could have been epic, instead it's a decent way to pass the time.

I wouldn't say great. But it was an entertaining watch. The acting was rough in some spots, maybe they were going for a cheesy feel in the beginning.

I've seen worse.
