Poor camera work

I felt that the camerawork was terrible especially during the whale attack scene. Too many close-ups and quick jerky motions. It failed to convey the grand scale of the attack and destruction and also was irritating to see a close-up quickly cut away to another close-up.

Other than that I thought this was a pretty decent and enjoyable film.

Ron Howard's direction was the difference between this movie sucking like most of the other crap that comes out now.

I disagree. I think the real saving grace for this movie was the fact that some of the best British actors were used instead of all the usual PRETTY American actors with the sparkly white teeth and not a hair out of place.
