El Paso premiere?
Bless Me, Ultima. A movie shot in New Mexico. Used New Mexico actors and extras about a New Mexico story and written by a New Mexico author. The premiere will be in El Paso? Give me a break. Who's dumb idea is that?

The choice of the premier's location was not a dumb idea at all. The marketing company consulting on the film's distribution concluded that El Paso's demographic (i.e., Hispanic/Latino audience) would provide the most accurate information regarding the film, especially the scope of its distribution. Let's face it, much of New Mexico has become "anglicized" to the point of not being sufficiently representative of the Hispanic/Latino culture.
shareExcuse me!?!?!? What kind of crack are you smoking? I was in the film as well as a statewide touring production of the play. We had sold out shows everywhere we went and the audience was a huge mix of both Hispanic and Anglos. BMU is something that lives deep within the soul of New Mexico and New Mexicans in general. To make a statement like that was pretty ridiculous. It shows how out of touch you are and how little you know about New Mexico... Not to mention if you read Census Data Hispanics and Native Americans outnumber Anglos.
shareApparently just finished arriving from Mars.
shareIt was premiered in El Paso to get an unbiased opinion on the quality of the film. Aside from the fact that Bless Me, Ultima is a book near-and-dear to a big portion of the New Mexican population, the film also used a large amount of actors and crew members from New Mexico.
