Does anyone know how and why back pages of threads get deleted?

Went back to check on a particular thread naming a particular show in the Rubicon board and now all threads around that time are deleted (July 2010 thru Sep 2010)

It looks like threads go back about a year and thats it?

I don't know what criteria they use but IMDB does purge threads from time to time. Since Rubicon is cancelled and the board isn't that active they're probably only going to maintain a few pages of threads.
