British TV programme "Our zoo".

If anyone is interested in seeing a tv programme about a real British zoo being bought and built up in the 1930s "Our zoo" starring Lee Ingleby (Stan Shunpike the knight bus conductor in Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban) is well worth watching. It refers to Chester Zoo which is still going strong. The program is realistic and doesn't rely on being reinvented in The USA to get viewers. It tells the true story of a shop owner who sells up and buys a dilapidated stately home in Cheshire, rescues several exotic animals and sets up a zoo despite the protests of local villagers. This series details can be viewed here on IMDB. I'm not criticising "We bought a zoo" as it is a good movie, but if it's based on a real incident in the UK I can't understand why the movie can't be set in the UK.

It was based on spark well zoo in Plymouth. ( now dartmoor zoo) USA is where the money is and this movie brought a lot of local advertising and money to this small local zoo. I didn't care if it was US or UK. They were brave enough to take on the story.
