When is this, exactly?

I was just thinking, this looks like anywhere between 1880-1900, but none of the guns these guys are using looks like it was built before about 1910, and a couple of them weren't introduced until the 1950s or later. You didn't see a lot of double action, stainless steel revolvers back in the wild west.

Ha! We must have noticed this at exactly the same time - see my previous comment. Good catch.

I think one of the title cards at the beginning said 1879 . . . But I wasn't paying complete attention. That said, I think gun anachronisms are fairly common -- especially in low budget films like this one!

Tho it is dark . . . know our flag . . . is still there.

The prologue caption read "Avaranth, Colorado 1892." And, I noticed some of the anachronistic firearms, too. The ones with the metallic rib atop the barrel? I think those are Dan Wesson revolvers; not introduced prior to the early 1970's!

On the plus side; I did like the happy ending. I wonder if Sam and Abigail are going to change their names to William and Drusilla Blood? ;-)

I think the firearms thing has do do with wanting the characters to have unique signature weapons instead of everybodys weapon looking the same. So on a low budget, maybe this was the best they could get?

Double action revolvers existed in the 1890s (as did automatic pistols) and were actually fairly popular, and nickel plating wasn't uncommon - but you're right, the ones in the movie are modern designs.
