In bad taste... yet not in bad taste enough

The premise was promising. Two homos decide to go on a raping killing spree inspired by real life psychos and movies. They list off several greats; Last House on the Left, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Dawn of the Dead... although it reminds me of something Brad Jones aka the Cinema Snob once said; don't reference better movies. The constant references to the genius of Wes Craven begged the question, then why aren't you copying him better?

The movie tries way too hard to be funny. Silly music, very spoofy action. I was watching "Teeth" earlier and one of the funniest scenes is the docter's hand is clamped in her vagina's teeth and she is freaking out trying to pull back. The reason that scene is disturbingly funny isn't because they're playing it for comedy. It's the fact that they're taking a ridiculous scenario so seriously.

The movie didn't have much soul. Slaughter pretty much just wanted to make a bad movie in hopes it would achieve culthood. Bad casting choices, wooden characters, the exact same pick up scene four times, the penetration angles being so obviously off.. It just didn't have much charm too it.

One thing that did make me laugh was when they wore bin Laden and Hussein masks to rape George W. Now that was in incredibly bad taste, which the movie kinda needed more of. Seriously, Justin could have added more to the conversation than "you're cool." He could have made some pretty crass remarks. You don't bring up the Columbine boys as heroes in the first five minutes and not go all the way with that sort of offensiveness.

Now you might be wondering how I could neglect the rape scenes as offensive. That's mainly to do with just how plain silly they were. The guy in the wig was the only disturbing one, because he was actually pleading and crying. Everyone else was just so meh. The rape scenes in general felt like hooking up with a pre-ejaculator with ADD. They were rather quick with no sense of tension.

Which brings me to another issue- it's not pornographic enough. Hey, I can enjoy a movie without nudity, but a rape exploitation flick should at least try to make the sex a little more convincing and detailed. A more genuine seduction scene with the guy by the tree would have improved this movie. It certainly would have made what happened later all the more jarring.

It had its moments and some eye candy, but it could have been so much better.

I really want to see Derrick Wolf in something else. His ability to have fun with what he did was the only good thing about this movie when it comes down to it. Plus, he's really hot.

I'll give it that it's a break from the more typical gay movie, but it just didn't become anything solid on it's own. Just all the guy could find on Wikipedia for references and a lack of imagination in direction.
