MK2's Shang Tsung, when he played decent, could morph into any other character, and could morph into a sub-boss to perform his Fatality.

Runner up would be Kitana mainly for her corner combos in MK2. I don't think she's ever quite been the powerhouse since, but she's still cooler than all the other female MK characters.

Sub-Zero was my favorite character since MK1 and still is now.

Not really. Memorizing the morph commands were never a problem. The problem was memorizing how to effectively use <i>every character</i>. When you've mastered the entire roster, a couple morph commands are easy to remember.

In MK2, Tsung was more of a show off character anyway. If you only knew how to use Scorpion, it was pointless using Shang Tsung just to morph into Scorpion. You used Shang Tsung to change into everyone just to show that you could use everyone.

Scorpion. I'm always the best with him, though I also really like Smoke.

Cocky, a complete douche, the comic relief, hits people in the nuts because he does what it takes to win. Really what's not to like.

Everyone died but him in this game! Awesome!

I personally like Smoke because he always struck me as one of the most mysterious characters in the series and he totally kicks your ass in MK2. Plus, I always thought it was cool the way smoke emits from his suit . One of the most underrated characters IMO but probably my most favorite.
