Its just so bad, I do find it insulting to the original "Total Recall"

Isnt the purpose of dong a remake is to make a better film?

Nah, it's about re-doing things the way someone else thinks they should be, or simply ripping off a successful idea because someone lacks imagination, both for the sole purpose of making money off the original film's success.

But how do you think PKD would feel when comparing this to We Can Remember It For You Wholesale?

I agree. I'm watching the original now. And I remember there was no heart in the remake.

Seemed like the original had way more interesting twists. In the new one, he was basically a guy with amnesia who didn't know what side to fight for until he saw a video message of himself.

The original move is not a person so it cannot be insulted. Also I like the 2012 Recall. It is not as cool as the one with Schwarzenegger but not due to video games visuals but rather due to the weaker plot and less comedy.

I don't like remakes but I do understand why they get made. But this remake seems so pointless. The original movie wasn't Shakespeare but it was a lot of fun and it still is a minor classic in it's genre. The new movie ads basically nothing to that. It's not even a better or more original interpretation of the book.

I've got to admit, this is not only the worst remake of any film I have ever seen, but also one of the worst films ever in general. Really badly done, badly acted, stupidly changed to make little sense, stupid naff lens flare, AWFUL! 

You've got to admit you're exaggerating, unless you've only seen like six movies. It's inferior to the Arnold version for sure, but one of the worst films ever? Nope.

This new movie is nothing more than a family pondering piece of *beep* intended for PG-13 loving teens, the original is an R-rated adult action sci-fi movie.

Absolutely agree, John - this new movie should be re-titled, 'Total Tripe'.

Agreed. The original was an actual movie, and a somewhat cheesy but wonderfully entertaining piece of work, imho, while this empty, shiny thing is just a hyperkinetic video game with cringe-worthy dialogue and faux profundities thrown in every once in a while between the lame homages to the original and the desperate attempts to look like Bladerunner. More proof that money and CGI can't create a heart or soul.
