Same here. He can be dumb, and use vulgarity as a crutch, and make a couple mediocre movies, but I'm still behind him. This wasn't great, but at least he didn't write it. Looking forward to Red State.

1- Jack McBrayer (from Upright Citizen's Brigade and 30 Rock).
The dude is clean as a whistle, and maybe the nicest guy in show business. I've only met maybe three other people that were pure, guileless nice guys. He's definitely one.
2 - Stuart Murdoch may be McBrayer's long lost twin. Likewise, not a scratch of evil in the man.
3 - Ted Levine. Not a bit like his character in 'The Silence of the Lambs'. Again, one of the true gents on show business.
....I've also yet to hear any dirt about Alexander Payne, to name one director. The Coen brothers' and Albert Brooks are pure evil, though, of course.

I'm still a huge fan of Kevin Smith. I didn't like Cop Out at all, but I don't hold it against him, because it was poorly written, and he admitted himself that he didn't have any emotional connection to it and it was just a job he did for a paycheck. You can't really fault the guy for making sure his family can live comfortably. I Own all of his stuff except Cop Out, and I'm really looking forward to Red State. So, yeah, still a fan.
