this movie was a joke

Most basic storyline ever, hur hur we are the bureau that adjusts things, you can't be together. OH NO your love for one another was too powerful (with basically no development of it or the characters together) god is proud of you, love triumphs all we are defeated.

what...

developed nothing, nothing interesting about the bereau, no badass conclusion where they met the chairmen and had some sort of satisfying conversation at least that TRIES to explain anything.

it was just lazy religious propoganda with a half assed story and an actor people would recognize so they will throw money at it. K production wise... decent... other then that it had nothing going for it except the cliche "happy ever after" ending

Your opinion is wrong,, this movie was great

Frankly autocorrect, I'm getting a little tired of your shirt

reply

How can an opinion be wrong?

What are you hungry for?

Total honesty. That is it.

reply

One could have the opinion that humans can breath underwater without any kind of equipment but that opinion would be wrong.

That is misinformation which can be proven to be false.
Having the opinion a movie, series or whatnot is bad / good can not be proven otherwise, since it is an opinion of oneself alone.

What you mentioned are unbendable facts backed up by science.

"Most basic storyline ever, "
That's a wrong opinion, for a start. It's not even close. 'One there was a woman, the end' is a fair bit more basic, and it took me under a second to think of that. Granted, it was hyperbole, but still wrong...
More importantly, though,

"it was just lazy religious propoganda"
Wrong, and demonstrates that the poster misunderstood the intent of the film. If anything it was quite the opposite - a finger pointed at religious folk to remind them that they shouldn't mindlessly follow the book their religion gave to them. If the message was anything, it was anti-fundamentalism, and possibly even anti-religion given how it demonstrates that 'god' can be wrong.

and possibly even anti-religion given how it demonstrates that 'god' can be wrong.

At the end Harry says that maybe it's all a test. If it is a test, and if the God in this film is merely observing results using certain parameters and test subjects (humans and members of the Adjustment Bureau), then this particular God isn't wrong.

Mag, Darling, you're being a bore.

"One could have the opinion that humans can breath underwater without any kind of equipment but that opinion would be wrong"

That would be a theory, not an opinion.

reply

I agree. A big let down. I think it was a date movie. But it could have been a movie about life and not just relationships.

reply

I really wanted to like it and there are parts that are enjoyable, but the ending was such a disappointment. Most of films based on Philip K Dick's stories leave me underwhelmed. Total Recall (with Arnie) is the exception.

reply

It also could have been about Godzilla retiring and becoming a vegetarian but it was what the writers wanted it to be about.

As soon as you go into a movie with your own agenda of expectations and limitations, and cannot take a movie for its own agenda of expectations and limitations, you've lost the game.

Wow, calm down. So the movie didn't tick the boxes you wanted it to tick. That sounds more like a problem with your expectations of the movie, than the movie itself.

The Adjustment Bureau might not have been what you wanted it to be, but it did what it did very well. Take the chairman for example. The movie didn't give in and do some corny reveal at the end, which almost certainly would have been underwhelming. Instead, the movie leaves us with something far more thought provoking. Had David Norris already met the chairman, and if so, who were they? That's a far more interesting way to cap things off if you ask me.

I disagree. I'd consider myself a rather steadfast atheist, the movie deliberately leaves a number of questions unanswered, which makes it much more open to interpretation. Mine wouldn't include a deity, but then again, I never went looking for one there. Could it have been done better? Yes, probably, I was missing a twist or turn there, particularly in the last third of the movie. You could also have done various things with the idea besides leaning on the romance aspect, it could just as well have been more science fiction ("The Matrix", basically), action, thriller, would even have served as a horror story if you wanted it to. But it is pretty good as it is, too. Isn't that what good science fiction does? Boggle your mind some and keep you guessing long after the end credits have rolled?

...do you manage to actually enjoy ANY movies?
Sometimes character development is of little importance-this movie trundles along at its own pace, picking up a little momentum as it goes. It tries to be different and I bet you couldn't predict the way it went?

I was wondering the same. I guess some people's idea of a good movie is one that is what they WANT it to be rather than what it is.

I really liked this one :)
