Total nonsense

Absurd - with no redeeming factors.

AGREED! There' two hours of my life I'll never get back. Just short of propaganda

reply

Agreed.

YOU'RE SOOOOO SPECIAL, OTHER BEINGS ARE CONSTANTLY MONITORING YOU, HAVE A PLAN FOR YOU, AND SOME KIND OF BOSS DUDE IS 'IN CONTROL' OF THE WHOLE SCHEME.

Right.

The whole historical reason given in the film why the adjustment bureau existed also made me want to barf.

reply

I'll agree it certainly was an absurd story, but for some reason most of it entertained me. I still liked it.

You all have no imagination.

You all have no imagination.
Agreed. It's like they'd never heard of science-fiction before and romantic SF at that.🐭

reply

People believe in God who serves the same role and purpose is the chairman, yet you say it's impossible for the adjustment Bureau to exist. I do believe it was a metaphor...

reply

It IS absurd! However, sometimes we need the absurd. Also, sometimes we need things that are nice and fun even if they are absurd and have no objective point. I am a very smart person and often get bent when things don't make sense. However, I am a fan of non sequiturs because they don't make sense. They don't follow any sort of natural or linear story progression. I enjoy them because I know that there is nothing to made sense of. That is the way I view this film. The story doesn't have to make sense in its progression. All I have to do is enjoy the main characters and I love Emily Blunt's character while also very much likely Matt Damon's character. That's all I need to enjoy this movie.

Thanks - but Donald Trump is enough of the absurd for me - indeed a lifetime's worth at a minimum!

reply

Sure. Maybe he IS absurd. However, he is also above and beyond categorically dishonest, misguided, and wrong. The Adjustment Bureau may be absurd, but it isn't misguided and it certainly doesn't lie to you. The story it tells may be fictional, but you know that ahead of time...being a movie and all.

If only fictional would apply to Trump. 'Misguided' is a compliment - if one realizes the 'guiding' was done by Papa Nazi himself!

reply

My greatest fantasy is that he is pulling off the greatest troll of all time by trolling the Republican party. 

It was somehow 'enjoyable' watching his 'take no prisoners' show a year ago - and watch him embarrass Bush, Rubio, Christie, etc. - but there is now the realization that the world is playing with fire - there are just too many 'Miss South Carolinas' in the US electorate.

reply

To get back on topic I will say this: Trump was amusing in the beginning, however I no longer think so. In contrast, I still find The Adjustment Bureau just as amusing as the first time and as lame and absurd as its story may be, I love its sweetness and will never tire of it.
