Sinestro's should not have been able to commit murder using his Green Lantern ring since Green Lantern's are not allowed to use lethal force.
After Sinestro obtains his yellow lantern ring, both the yellow ring and the yellow power battery look exactly like the green lantern ring and power battery, yet the design on Sinestro's uniform is that of the Sinestro Corp.
Since this is a separate continuity, I don't think that these should really be considered goofs.

Just because they shouldn't doesn't mean they can't. Remember that the rings are governed by the willpower of the user and it's not impossible for a given bearer to have a will strong enough to use it to kill (and it happened more often than one might think in early volumes of Green Lantern).
