Doesn't it feel like "Philadelphia"?

Both had an addict, troubled and traumatized main character, alienated from society.
Sickness hitting hard, all sorts of problems arise, though there's no legal drama in this one, there was a clear TRIAL between the characters involved in the main character's life.

I could go on a lot of details but I feel it's like Philadelphia all over again, even though it may seem a bit far fetched, I see a lot of connections between both movies.

Anyways, good film, very emotional, hardcore drama with interesting characters and performances, but I just can't get over these similarities and also feeling a bit tricked into an emotional by a plot that clearly shows total decay and tries to glorify the little few pieces of humanity of a troubling and dying character.
