As of proud French and Parisian origin...

... this movie I found repellant. Not in it's making, but of its content. That Frenchmen could do that to their own revolts me, but in my chosen profession, I am truly disgusted and ashamed to see my predecessors standing by and making this heinous act happen. And the likes of Pétain and Laval make my flesh crawl. They shame France with their names alone.

I have not seen the movie yet, but I will soon. I am Norwegian and am sick by our own police who helped round up the Jews for the nazi swines.

I am ashamed that the police in Norway during the war helped the Germans in their final solution plan, as did the French.

I think that's how the filmmaker wanted you to feel. If you felt happy after this movie then that means it would have failed to get the message out. You're not suppose to feel proud of France after seeing this. It doesn't mean your country is bad, it's not. It was just being controlled by a bunch a baboons at the time.

About two-thirds of France's Jewish population did survive the war. It's still horrible that one-third died but that was a lower percentage than in most occupied countries.

Regarding today, it's not politically correct to acknowledge this but anti-Semitic acts are in large part committed by the Muslim minority.

That'd be strange since Arabs are semites as well (Abraham/Ibrahim hails from Shem's bloodline after all), hence they should not be anti-semetic :)

As for the OP, as much as the movie makes me tear up every other minute, it's nothing new... That stuff has happened half a century ago, if you haven't been taught that during WWII-related classes, something's wrong.
But as others said, not all French people were going with this, they saved more than 40% of the targeted people... that's really not a small number, considering they had their own government/police against them. These French people are true heroes!
