6.9? Seriously?
This film is so much better than that, especially when you consider Transformers has a 7.2 rating.
9/10 for me.

I agree. I was really shocked to see this movie did not even reach a 7, considering that it's worth so much more than that. While tripe like Transformers and such are receiving good ratings... weird.
"I want a frisbee made of Mexico."
You have to keep these ratings in perspective, and consider the source. The ratings are skewed by the number of people who feel strongly enough about a film to ring in, and also just the raw amount of postings. But yes, this is a solid 8, if not 9 (the scenes with Hitler vacationing in the middle of a war are just too weird and keep it from being a 10 for me). The strangest factor in the rating is how many 1's it got - more than twice than any other rating below 5. What could possibly be that wrong with this film? This is masterful storytelling, with a great if largely unknown cast portraying rounded-out characters, a very humanistic approach, the best film I've seen about the Holocaust other than Shoah, even Playing For Time. A good bit better than Sarah's Key, inspired by the same event, and that was pretty darn good too. I have a bigger bone to pick with the nonsensical synopsis - but that would be another post. ;-)
shareThe ratings of 1 are political responses from anti-israeli or holocaust deniers or the like. These absurdly low grades are not cinematic reviews but political; check out "The Attack."
shareMmm, if you want to see a really good movie about WWII taking place in France, you should watch "Army Of Crime".
"Army Of Crime" is like "United 93"
and "La Rafle" is like "Flight 93". :D
La Rafle is a walking cliché of a mass-aiming tearjerker, when there is so much more emotion in a subtle, fine, movie like Army Of Crime. I strongly recommend it!
"Auschwitz begins whenever someone looks at a slaughterhouse and thinks: 'they're only animals.'" (Theodore Adorno)
Think you missed the point. La Rafle was a story about the holocaust in France and the Velodrome Roundup. Completely different story than Army of Crime. You cant really compare the two - both are great movies
shareYou can't take the ratings on IMDB seriously, unless you think Lord of the Rings was one of the greatest movie ever made.
