Yes Blair was in Dirty Sexy Money, and I think he was the Sexy! yum yum. I'm glad he gets shows to do because he's so gorgeous and so talented, but I don't know why the shows don't get longer seasons. I mean, I loved City of Angels and DSM. Can't remember LAX, and by the time The Event came along I was so annoyed at how the networks were cutting shows that I had decided not to watch new shows at that time.
Didn't last long enough probably. For some reason it's very vivid in my mind. And yes, Blair is so gorgeous and talented. Why is he not a bigger star?!
My quote: "but sometimes it's so hard to break into the "blue/white" wall of Hollywood. A Latino show? Hmmm, it didn't fare too well, but I tell you for me it was going places, and I was really disappointed when it was cut." What I meant by blue/white. In the police service, they have the blue wall - that's the wall of silence where cops stick together and you can't break that wall no matter what. Then in Hollywood, I've read once where someone said that it's hard to have a show where the leads or the full show is only whites.
Ah yes! I thought it was a police reference and you were using it to point out the troubles minority shows in entertainment face.
For example Undercover with Boris Kudjoe. He and his wife on the show are black, and the show didn't even last a full season! Then as you mentioned, Greetings from Tucson (Latinos), then there was City of Angels (blacks), then Cane (Latinos). So when I said blue/white I was referring to breaking a wall (hence the use of blue) and also referring to shows where all Latino or all Black shows don't often make it. Look at George Lopez Show. Got canned recently. Arsenio Hall's talk show didn't last too long either.
Preach! LOL. And part of the reason Arsenio was canceled was politics, I believe. I mean, everyone loved that show at the start. I bet if it were Jay Leno (this actually did happen recently with Conan) he would have more chances. But let me stop, I'll behave. People keep saying Undercovers just wasn't good, but really? They were just as good as some of these shows out here, it never even got a chance to really grow. Did you notice a couple weeks before George Lopez's late night show got axed, Mo'nique's talk show (on BET) was also canceled? She could be a bit much at times but we just lost a big platform for blacks (she featured other races as well) to promote themselves. Like she would have whole shows dedicated to black youths doing positive things in entertainment (young fitness guru/actors/musicians), or a tribute to The Five Heartbeats movie, or a show dedicated to "old school" rappers. She showcased many artists that have been ignored by the mainstream (old and new) and gave them exposure. Even chefs (like the big tough Italian chef who started crying, lol) and other people you'd never see anywhere else. Where else could I see Gbenga Akinnagbe and Kevin Hooks in one show? And see Gbenga get so excited to meet someone he looks up to and get to meet a pioneer not only for blacks but just in general with some of the things he was doing. George had people I was more interested in watching as well, at one point I watched it almost every night, until they pushed him back to 12 and I couldn't anymore.
Mind you I watch everything. I don't care if it's all white, all black, all Latino; whatever if I like the premise of the show, I watch it, but it saddens me that some shows (like City of Angels and Cane) were so good yet because a certain race other than white may have dominated the show, they didn't last and I didn't like that. So I meant, breaking the blue/white wall. That's what I meant. No offense meant to anyone, it was just my personal opinion about it. Hope the Admn people don't delete this (haha) cause I really don't think it's offensive, nor is it meant to be.
I'll watch anything too, it's just that when a quality show featuring someone (or a cast) of color doesn't get a fair chance, it frustrates me. Trust me, your post wasn't offensive in the least. Just wanted a little clarification. that was actually a good analogy you used there. And if someone does take offfense, hey well some people will find offense in anything. There are much, much worse posts than yours on this site rave, maybe by me, lol!
Sorry this is so long but this is good discussion here!
