When Dr. Hottie is your husband, you sleep with what!!!

Michael Vartan just oozes sex appeal from his pores, yummylicious. Marc Anthony looks like a pedophile, sicko, I'd drop him too if I was J-Lo UGH!!!

C'mon Christina you need a brain transplant at James River Hospital.

"Hasn't gotten better at all and they have no chemistry. That's one of the worst aspects of the show and it's boring. "

Your opinion is way off. While Michael Vartan has sex appeal, I won't say it oozes from his pores. I liked him more in Alias. Here he always looks like he has something bothering him (he's always frowning). Marc Anthony looks like a pedophile? He looks like a hot blooded Spanish man who could turn you inside out with one look - I don't know how you could say that about him. But I have learned that when someone likes a character, it's easy for them to hate another one or see another one as someone totally horrid, just because they don't like the insertion of that character.

You may not like Marc Anthony's character on the show, and no offense meant for your opinion, but IMO he has sex appeal, moreso than Vartan, and he has more chemistry with Christina than Tom.

This is my signature and I'm sticking to it. lol

reply

Um NO ravmeltt, I absolutely 100% HATE the looks of Marc Anthony, I mean ugh gross I would throw him under a bus to get to Michael Vartan.

OK, let me guess you must also be in love with another Latino so-called heartthrob that I have NEVER understood the wow factor in him Jimmy Smits, am I right?

By the way I don't give a rip about Renata the character maybe another actor would have been better for me.

Damned good looking. When I hear comments like that I think people are just trolling my existence.

Veryopinionated (I can see that you are - LOL), but I'm not in love with Marc Anthony. In fact, to be honest, he was never a favorite of mine. I never saw him acting in anything, and I was never a fan of his. That's why you can see it's his acting in this show that I like and love. I love him in this. I think he's doing an awesome job and makes it all look so real. That's the beauty of it. He's so believable! When he looks at Christina it's almost like the love, lust and passion are burning through the screen!

And yes, I do love Jimmy Smits. Always have since LA Law. I was disappointed when Cane (especially) and Outlaw were cancelled.

This is my signature and I'm sticking to it. lol

reply

You and me both on Outlaw. I never even got a chance to check Cane out really. I mean I didn't like the Playboy angle in Outlaw but the show was solid and getting better by the episode. He deserves a show at least, damned good actor. And fine, fine, fine.

I know that Hawthorne is over and done with, but I think casting Benjamin Bratt as Nick Renata would've been a much better choice than Marc Anthony.

Marc Anthony creeps me out and he's unattractive. It would've been far more believable if Jada's choice had been between Benjamin Bratt and Michael Vartan. What a yummy love sandwich that would be!

reply

"I think casting Benjamin Bratt as Nick Renata would've been a much better choice than Marc Anthony."

Benjamin Bratt was hot in The Cleaner, neoyorquina, and I like him a lot. I also liked him in Law & Order. I like him in anything really. But having said that, I still liked Marc Anthony and had no problem with him in this role as Nick. It's a pity so many are against him. This is one case where I would disagree that the majority rules.

I completely agree about Marc, too bad. As for Benji Bratt......OT, have you seen La Mission?

Your sig is cute by the way.

Keleaz, Cane was an exciting show. It had a lot of Latino actors, but it reminded me of Dirty Sexy Money. Jimmy Smits was the son of the patriarch, Hecto Elizondo, and it kind of reminded me also of a sort of Dallas/Dynasty feel. I mean just check out the pilot online if you can get it. It was a fine series and going places, but sometimes it's so hard to break into the "blue/white" wall of Hollywood. A Latino show? Hmmm, it didn't fare too well, but I tell you for me it was going places, and I was really disappointed when it was cut. See if you can catch it on Youtube or somewhere else, just to get a feel of it.

Not sure if this link will work for you, but you could try it:

Hey! Thanks ravmeltt. Once I get to a computer I'll check the link out. I remember seeing the previews for the show but I don't think I ever got the chance to watch. What you said reminds me of the show Greetings from Tucson which I also heard good things about, but by the time I realized what it was about it was gone. I'm a fan of Jacob Vargas so it bummed me out a little. The only Latino show I can think of that was successful in recent years was The George Lopez Show. The successful shows for minorities are usually comedies. I can't think of ONE that wasn't.

Hector Elizondo! I adore him. Oh and I've never really seen Dirty Sexy Money but I do remember trying for Blair Underwood (I think he was in that) who has had his fair share of shows that didn't make it; LAX, City of Angels, The Event. But I know pretty much what DSM was about so I get what you're saying.

However forgive me for asking, I'm a little out of it can you explain to me what you mean by blue/white? I'm sure it's quite obvious but please bare with me, lol. I mean I get the gist of what you're saying and all but I feel like I'm missing something.

"but I do remember trying for Blair Underwood (I think he was in that) who has had his fair share of shows that didn't make it; LAX, City of Angels, The Event."

Yes Blair was in Dirty Sexy Money, and I think he was the Sexy! yum yum. I'm glad he gets shows to do because he's so gorgeous and so talented, but I don't know why the shows don't get longer seasons. I mean, I loved City of Angels and DSM. Can't remember LAX, and by the time The Event came along I was so annoyed at how the networks were cutting shows that I had decided not to watch new shows at that time.

I don't think I saw Greetings to Tucson either.

My quote: "but sometimes it's so hard to break into the "blue/white" wall of Hollywood. A Latino show? Hmmm, it didn't fare too well, but I tell you for me it was going places, and I was really disappointed when it was cut." What I meant by blue/white. In the police service, they have the blue wall - that's the wall of silence where cops stick together and you can't break that wall no matter what. Then in Hollywood, I've read once where someone said that it's hard to have a show where the leads or the full show is only whites. For example Undercover with Boris Kudjoe. He and his wife on the show are black, and the show didn't even last a full season! Then as you mentioned, Greetings from Tucson (Latinos), then there was City of Angels (blacks), then Cane (Latinos). So when I said blue/white I was referring to breaking a wall (hence the use of blue) and also referring to shows where all Latino or all Black shows don't often make it. Look at George Lopez Show. Got canned recently. Arsenio Hall's talk show didn't last too long either.

Mind you I watch everything. I don't care if it's all white, all black, all Latino; whatever if I like the premise of the show, I watch it, but it saddens me that some shows (like City of Angels and Cane) were so good yet because a certain race other than white may have dominated the show, they didn't last and I didn't like that. So I meant, breaking the blue/white wall. That's what I meant. No offense meant to anyone, it was just my personal opinion about it. Hope the Admn people don't delete this (haha) cause I really don't think it's offensive, nor is it meant to be.

Didn't last long enough probably. For some reason it's very vivid in my mind. And yes, Blair is so gorgeous and talented. Why is he not a bigger star?!

Ah yes! I thought it was a police reference and you were using it to point out the troubles minority shows in entertainment face.
For example Undercover with Boris Kudjoe. He and his wife on the show are black, and the show didn't even last a full season! Then as you mentioned, Greetings from Tucson (Latinos), then there was City of Angels (blacks), then Cane (Latinos). Preach! LOL. And part of the reason Arsenio was canceled was politics, I believe. I mean, everyone loved that show at the start. I bet if it were Jay Leno (this actually did happen recently with Conan) he would have more chances. But let me stop, I'll behave. People keep saying Undercovers just wasn't good, but really? They were just as good as some of these shows out here, it never even got a chance to really grow. Did you notice a couple weeks before George Lopez's late night show got axed, Mo'nique's talk show (on BET) was also canceled? She could be a bit much at times but we just lost a big platform for blacks (she featured other races as well) to promote themselves. Like she would have whole shows dedicated to black youths doing positive things in entertainment (young fitness guru/actors/musicians), or a tribute to The Five Heartbeats movie, or a show dedicated to "old school" rappers. She showcased many artists that have been ignored by the mainstream (old and new) and gave them exposure. Even chefs (like the big tough Italian chef who started crying, lol) and other people you'd never see anywhere else. Where else could I see Gbenga Akinnagbe and Kevin Hooks in one show? And see Gbenga get so excited to meet someone he looks up to and get to meet a pioneer not only for blacks but just in general with some of the things he was doing. George had people I was more interested in watching as well, at one point I watched it almost every night, until they pushed him back to 12 and I couldn't anymore.
I'll watch anything too, it's just that when a quality show featuring someone (or a cast) of color doesn't get a fair chance, it frustrates me. Trust me, your post wasn't offensive in the least. Just wanted a little clarification. that was actually a good analogy you used there. And if someone does take offfense, hey well some people will find offense in anything. There are much, much worse posts than yours on this site rave, maybe by me, lol!

Veryopinionated, That's your opinion. Michael Vartan is just a regular looking guy. Nothing HOT about him to me. He doesn't ooze sex appeal at all to me. Why would you go as far as to say Marc Anthony looks like a pedophile. How does a pedophile look? Really foolish post. I prefer Christina be with the one she has REAL chemistry with. Marc Anthony.

It's the creepy mustache that makes Marc look like a pedophile. It's creepy and obvious. It's a real shame Christina lowered her standards. We knew they kissed and it was a shame it went further. Especially after Christina blocked his initial pursuit

reply

When did she blocked his "intial" pursuit?

reply

She turned away when he first tried to kiss her

reply

Damn and to me, Christina has more passion for Marc's character than her Dr. husband. In my opinion, he was a rebound taken to far and Marc's character is her finally moving on.

Michael Vartan makes my toenails curl and my sockies roll up & down...Haven't had dry undies since "ALIAS" started in 2001...Marc Anthony is a squiddy, half-baked, chicken-breasted little monkey-hugger...

Michael Vartan has those gorgeous green eyes, lashes Maybelline would kill for, those luscious deep-dish dimples, that sexy-as-hell chin cleft, the body of a Greek god or a Gallic prince (he did play Lancelot in "Mists Of Avalon, ya know), that adorable, sweet smile that can turn HOTT at a second's notice, and that honey-on-sandpaper, velvet rasp of a voice...

He is also the most sensual kisser on the planet...And he speaks French...

Watch his eyes when he talks, it's all right there...He is a subtle, old-fashioned actor, a lot like Bogart, Jimmy Stewart or Gary Cooper...

As for having "no chemistry" with Jada, watch with your eyes open next time...In Season 1, there's a scene where they are discussing a patient's blood pressure, and as they are talking they are moving closer & closer until they are almost touching; their eyes never leave each other's...It's clear that someone's blood is up, and it ain't the patient's...

I didn't know Mark Anthony was a celebrity until reading these threads. I thought he was some actor hired for a "John Leguizamo-type" creepy little man. The last thing I expected was for Nick to become a romantic interest.

I really liked the first two seasons. I thought this show was going to be more like ER, except from the nurses point of view, which appealed to me because ER writers couldn't ever flesh out any of the non-head-nurse characters even after oodles of lead characters left the show and the nursing staff stayed on.

But this season has been a trainwreck from the first episode. Is this some attempt to make the whole cast seem hopelessly damaged, just because that worked for Ally McDoctor, er Grey's Anatomy?

You notice his facial hair TruthTella? You really scrutinize Marc Anthony. I didnt even notice that. But I do notice his deep set eyes, and the look of love he has for Christina. If Jada didnt have such a solid marriage with Will I would be worried for them. There is such chemistry between Nick and Christina, such as I havent seen in a long time onscreen on television.

No problem Raven. I think TruthTella is trying to bait me, but I've given up. To constantly call Marc Anthony or refer to him as a pedophile I think is going above and beyond one's dislike for a character. If you don't like someone, that's fine, but a pedophile is not a nice person, and I think it's offensive to continue relating him to one. But at least Marc has two fans. You and I! lol. I'm not saying I want her to break up with Tom, but I do feel she and Tom should not have married in the first place. I liked him with Abigail Spencer (actor's name), the doctor who was on for a while. Tom and her had chemistry. lol.

ravmeltt,

OK you are right I'll admit pedophile is a strong name. But I used it to emphasize how in my eyes and evidently a couple of others in this thread how creepy looking Marc Anthony is period. Chemistry eh whatever, Michael Vartan is far sexier than Marc Anthony.

Thanks for admitting that, veryopinionated. I'm not saying Vartan isn't sexy, but I can't say he is far sexier than Marc Anthony. I'm just not seeing it. And I can't see the creepiness that you and others are seeing. So here is where I think we have to part ways and recognise that "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" and some of us are seeing things differently. That's why we are all special. We see things differently and we are different. That's why I try not to say bad about others, because what is bad to some, may be good to others! Enjoy the show for what it's worth. I'm going to. Yep, that is the vibe he puts off

reply

Actually, there was a LOT of online gossip and innuendo that Jada and Marc had a REAL thang goin' on! They did have a LOT more chemistry that she and her TV hubby. She and hubby had a certain chemistry, but for sheer strength of passion, it was Marc Anthony for sure. Regardless of whether one is attracted or hatin' on Marc--I am neither, he's Ok, not my personal vision of the Latin Lover--it was VERY plain that the steamy love scene had some level of real chemistry to it, and that, after all, is what the story is about: Christina finding she does love them both, each in a particular way and being torn between them.

reply

Gotta agree with OP here. Marc Anthony is weasly and not the least bit attractive. Vartan is no where near my ideal either, but he's ten times better looking than Marc Anthony.

Than again i can't say i've ever not found a latino guy kinda slimy.

I agree Raven. Marc looks good to many I'm sure. And as for his fans in his native ancestral Puerto Rico, he has thousands of them. I liked Michael Vartan a lot in Alias, but he did nothing for me in Hawthorne. I found he had a perpetual frown on his face. I find him average looking although I still like him. But, I'm sorry- there is just something incredibly sexy about him. And he and Christina had awesome chemistry.

Tom is a whiny prick. I will miss Nick's character.

reply

Totally agree about Tom. He's a nice looking guy but his character sucked. I thought he was a pompous arse starting in season 1. He had no concern for Christina's status as a widow who really wasn't quite ready to date again - let alone get married. The only passion Tom managed to drum up for her was when he was angry at her and it seemed that he was always mad at her for something. I found his tantrums after she turned down his proposal quite childish and unattractive.

I found him to be waaaay too harsh with her in season 3 after she was brutally beaten and lost the baby. I know he was angry when she fell asleep at Nick's house in that one episode but he was yelling at her and in her face like an attacker. Not cool. Nick was always sweet and patient with her and he made her feel safe and loved. She was always on the defensive with Tom and always apologizing for something. I didn't like the way he talked to her or the way he treated her. Heck, I didn't even like the way he played Erin either. He had a nasty disposition and had gone off on almost everyone he worked with at some point.

Christina might not have slept with Nick had Tom stayed for a while at the party and danced with her like she asked. He said he had to get back to the hospital but all he did was go back, play hockey with Brenda and complain about Nick to the point of breaking a window. Dude had some serious anger issues.

People are basing their love of Tom on looks alone but to me he was arrogant and had an overblown ego. Had Christina not found out she was pregnant, I'm not sure she would have married Tom.

reply

I agree with this assessment. Tom only wanted to get married because he experienced trauma in losing his friend in the car accident. I wished she and Tom had only dated instead of getting married--that was taking it a step too far when Christina clearly wasn't ready for that type of commitment. Tom made a comment to her after she denied his proposal: "I wanted to get married. Not watch a movie." That is such a childish comment and couldn't believe Christina put up with that type of crap. Even if she was pregnant at the time, they still didn't need to get married. Christina and Tom spent more time fighting than talking probably due to the fact they had known each other forever. Given the way Tom treated Christina after she lost the baby, it's no surprise that she turned to Nick when Tom wasn't there for her.

"Sure... fine... whatever."
