Rock and Roll Hall of Shame

So will Eddie have anything nice to say about the Hall since they accepted Rush?

reply

Probably not until they add UFO and Deep Purple... I can't believe Purple didn't get in this year. Glad Rush did though. Kind of disgusted GnR got in for having one good album (AFD) and EP (Lies). Anything they did after those two is garbage.

The Use Your Illusion albums had the makings of ONE great double album, if they cut out all the filler. Also, their live collection is quite good.

I can see them adding Deep Purple some time soon, but why on earth would they induct UFO? They were just one of the thousands of generic hard rock/semi metal bands of the 70s, and they didn't really do much. Doctor Doctor and what else?

Deep Purple frontman Ian Gillan holds ‘no respect’ for Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

Deep Purple frontman Ian Gillan has told Classic Rock he holds ‘no respect’ for those behind the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame after his band was nominated once again for induction earlier this month.

“I have no respect for them,” he said. “They’re the kind of people that having seen A Hard Day’s Night decided that The Monkees would be America’s equivalent to The Beatles . They’ve no idea what goes on in the big, wide world outside of their self-arbitrating surroundings.”

“To me, those people are bloody arrogant and rude. I’ve heard that somebody on their committee dismissed us as one-hit wonders. I couldn’t figure out whether that hit was ‘Hush’, ‘Kentucky Woman’, ‘Black Night’, ‘Strange Kind Of Woman’, ‘Child In Time’, ‘Perfect Strangers’, ‘Knocking At Your Back Door’ or perhaps even ‘Smoke On The Water’.”

Other leading names up for the Hall Of Fame next year include The Smiths , Chic and Chicago. 2016 inductees will be announced at a ceremony in New York next April.

Ian Gillian is just butt hurt over being excluded from the Hall in favor of bands that deserve to be in there over Deep Purple. Bands like Billy Joel, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Tom Petty etc. belong in the Hall over Deep Purple. Eddie's just completely narrow minded and so is his fan base when it comes to music outside of 70's hard rock and 80's hair metal.

Well he has a point the RRHOF is pretty much a joke... Madonna, Run DMC, the Beastie Boys are in there before so many legendary rock acts. GnR gets in off of one good album. Metallica gets in before Rush, Deep Purple, Thin Lizzy or UFO? Seriously?? I loved Metallica but honestly they've sucked since Justice.

It's not a "best of" album it's probably one of the best "live" albums ever recorded. The Rock HOF is a bigger joke than the NFL HOF. Guns N' Roses are in there with one good album. Madonna in the rock HOF seriously??? If Guns N Roses are in there U.F.O. should be too.

What's wrong with the Pro Football Hall Of Fame?

For starters, the number of people in it who have no business being there but got in because there is a mandatory minimum of four inductees every year. Personally, I can't come up with a single good reason why there should be a minimum number of inductees. And why is there a maximum, for that matter?

Also, if you look at the current members you'll see a major prejudice against certain defensive positions, WRs and players on bad teams who would have been in long ago if they had been on good ones. The WR problem in particular is a big one, as there was no excuse for Art Monk or Andre Reed to wait as long as they did.

And letting only media representatives vote - yikes.

The Pro Football HOF is a mess.
