Great Movie, one mistake

This movie would have been better if it hadnt based itself on such a stupid plot line. First, no one would buy a product that switches channels everytime you make a situp. Its ridiculous. If that were a product that could sell, it would exist. And it doesnt exist.

This movie had great emotional energy, and great acting from Spacey and Belle, and i thought it had a nice mixture of comedic talent. But the premise, how he lost his job, etc, was just too ridiculous for me. They could hsve thought of something better, or borrowed an idea.

I agree with you! Some of the ideas were really stupid.

Kind of the idea to show the ridiculousness of 90% of home shopping products ;)

For one major mistake I would have chosen the premise of going to prison for product liability. I know they called it Gross Negligence in the movie but it is still a consumer issue with civil not criminal penalties.
The company was a corporation, limiting such liability. We know it is a corporation because when he went to his former protégé for backing on his new idea, he got the speech about them distancing him for the good of the company. This makes prison time over such a matter even more preposterous.

Remember when you had to have a brain to use the Internet?

I agree. Plus there's no way someone would get 10 yrs in prison for a few customers losing a few fingers. A fine, a settlement sure. I worked in the printing industry where pressmen lose fingers in printers all the time. The going rate for a finger is $10K. No more - no less.
