Wonderful series.

Two corrections in Ep 2.9 Lucrezia used a cap and ball horse pistol to shoot the horse; they weren't invented until the 1830s. Sanchez fired three shots from his pistol in quick succession, he couldn't have reloaded. Bad guys back then carried three or four pistols because reloading wasn't an option. Also Dr Juan went off to war against the Portuguese; I have no idea what war this referred to. It was obviously after 1500 as they had references to Columbus, but before 1588 which ended a maritime war between Spain and Portugal and was also the end of the Armada and Spanish Naval power.

Correction on History to your comments:
1.- The series take place in XVIIth century so the war must be that referred to the independence of Portugal from Spain in 1640 (Portugal and its posessions were part of the Spanish Empire since 1580).
2.- The conflict in 1588 you mentioned was about the failed attempt of the Spanish Armada to invade England (Portugal has nothing to do here). This didn't mean absolutely the end of the Spanish naval power at all. It was just one —but famous— of the multiple battles between England and Spain, i.e. following year in 1589 the English sent their counter-Armada —but unbeknownst— to Spain, failing as well.
3.- The Spanish naval power lasted for 2 more centuries until the battle of Trafalgar —again versus England— in 1805 in which a French-Spanish navy was defeated by an English one, and Spain could never recover from this hit (this battle was followed by a war against Napoleonic France, several wars of independence in the Americas, several civil wars within Spain, colonial wars in Africa and ending with the US-Spanish war in 1898 —the United States arising as a new world power and Spain crashing and hitting the bottom after a devastating XIXth century—).
