Hello!
I'm wondering if I should go see it or not :)
Is it a comedy?
Is it anti or pro vegan? :D
Thanks!

Dear Jolacora,

Thank you so much for your interest in my movie, "Attack of the Vegan Zombies!" It is a very campy, zombie movie. There are a few good laughs (both with and at the story), a good plot twist or two, a pair of topless women making out and some zombie attacks. It's very light-hearted, but made with a lot of fun. If you don't need big budget explosions or movie stars, you will probably enjoy it.

As far as the vegan part goes... I just wrote that in for practical reasons. A winery became available for me to use for free to make a movie. So I started thinking about the type of zombie movie I could make and tie in a winery and vineyard to the story at the same time. I came up with the idea of the zombies somehow growing out of the vines and went from there. The irony of zombies being vegan was too funny for me to pass up. Zombies, by definition, are flesh-eating monsters. They can't be vegans, so I thought the title would catch some people's minds. It's neither pro nor anti vegan. However, I have been eating more vegetables since I made the movie. Cows are big time consumers of water and other natural resources. Plus their four stomachs produce a lot of harmful gases. I've been experimenting with soy burgers and they're not bad.

I'll tell you what I will do. I have not made this offer to anyone, so keep it between you and me. Go to www.attackoftheveganzombies.com and buy a copy for 9.99. I'll sign it any way you ask me to (see order notes). If you honestly think it was really bad and want your money back I'll issue you a refund for the purchase price and you can keep the movie. If you think it was good vote for it on IMDB and give me a user review. You can reach me at [email protected] What do you think?

Sincerely,

Jim Townsend

Dear Jim!
Thank you so much for your reply!
It is really funny indeed that the zombies are vegan in your movie :)
I'm really happy you are experimenting on veganism and I hope you stick to it ;)
Thanks a lot for your offer, I'll think about it :)
Your movie was playing yesterday in my city and I really wanted to go but it had been too long since my dogs were left alone in my flat (5 hours) so I unfortunately had to go back home but I did go to the Tofu Attack (the name of cool vegans who serve vegan food) served before your movie and it was really cool and tasty! The theatre was rather crowded :) I hope they play your movie again and I will go!
Best wishes!

Dear Jolacora,

That is an interesting email. Can you tell me in what city you are located and in what theater my movie was playing? While I am happy that people are seeing my movie, I have not authorized anyone to play it in a movie theater. By any chance are you a pro-bono lawyer?

I bought this movie last weekend, and my girlfriend and I watched it. I'm a bit of a horror movie buff, and I gotta say I really enjoyed your movie! I'm a huge zombie fan, so I was looking for an alternative zombie movie to watch with my girlfriend to break her into my weird preference for campy movies. Much to my surprise, we had a blast watching the movie! It was nicely paced, and the actors and actresses are refreshingly "real." I particularly enjoyed the dynamics between Joe, the wife, and her mother. And I particularly enjoyed the two young actresses - I love the fact that you casted real chicks for these roles instead of super-skinny stereoptypical Hollywood "models." I'm a huge fan of "normal" people, people you'd most likely meet in the grocery store or the bank. So I was particularly pleased that the two young actresses were refreshingly attractive.

When are you going to make another movie? I'm hoping you jump into another project!

Hi N-hungness,

How are you? Thank you very much for watching my movie, "Attack of the Vegan Zombies!" I'm very happy that you appreciate it for what it is: a campy, zombie movie with a slightly different twist. You would be surprised how many people take it (and many things, I guess) very seriously. When I met with the Casting Director, Shannon Cain, she told me straight up: for this money and time schedule I can get you actors, but they won't be Playboy bunnies. I was very lucky with the cast and crew. I wish I could say I'm working on another movie, but I haven't seen any money from "Attack of the Vegan Zombies!" yet, only bills. In fact, I didn't even get into a single film festival, despite submitting to over 30! Oh well. I had several screenings, though.

Thanks again for your words of encouragement. Throw me a vote on IMDB, if you like, and join the Facebook page. Best of luck to you and if I make another movie, I'll announce it on Facebook.

Awesome! I'm looking forward to your work!! Shannon Cain did a great job btw! One of the reason why I enjoyed the movie was because of the actors and actresses. They were just very real to me, and you don't find that in even many box-office hits. I have to be able to relate to the characters. I very rarely actually like any of the lead characters in a movie of the campy horror genre, but your movie stood out in that respect in that it offered the genuine feeling that we were dealing with real people here. And I found the cheerleaders attractive. As soon as I saw them getting out of the vehicle, I thought, Yup, my kind of girls! :) I also really liked your character and Christine's. They were very much a couple I could relate to. And the acting from the two of you is perhaps some of the best in the movie. I graduated from college with a masters in English Literature, but I do regret not having pursued film instead. I love the craft of film making, and I gobble this stuff up lol. I love to see how budding filmmakers are doing! Some of the independent films with the skimpiest of budgets are much more cutting-edge and "ballsy" than the stuff in the mainstream market. I applaud your talents and your sincere passion to make films!
I will definitely check you out on FB! I really look forward to your next piece! :)
