The Mole - Worst storyline ever (spoilers ahead)

I usually have a pretty good memory but I have no clue what the team did in Afghanistan or who Sharov was. I vaguely remember Sabatino, but mostly remember he's portrayed by the same actor who was a rogue/AWOL marine on NCIS: Original Receipe and was on a ship called The Damocles with Ziva.

So three CIA guys are behind the mole against the NCIS Los Angeles OSP, and they've been doing this for 2+ years? Talk about a slow play. And what did they and/or the mole really do again? Sabatino sent Kensi a trojan horse in a email which allowed them to make that guy the mole, but when he got busted and there was no mole actually in that office they still had leaks? The CIA guys' motives is representative of the show. The team was in Afghanistan where they didn't belong interfering in something they shouldn't have. I presume Deeks was there, so they dragged along their LAPD liaison to do something far from and likely having little to nothing to do with Los Angeles. When was the last time they needed Deeks to liaise with the LAPD anyway? Likewise, the show has wandered off course doing things that are more appropriate for the CIA, FBI, or NSA and/or have nothing to do with the navy or marine corps.

Pretty much the whole mole storyline was resolved by Hetty getting her team out of the game, waving her magic wand, and ultimately going it alone (after all the help she had temporarily framing member of her own team and breaking the mole out of prison) without any backup and sheer luck that she wasn't quickly killed by the CIA guys or the mole before she could take cover & blow them up. If gunman she killed had a team she'd have been dead before exiting that cabinet. She's lucky her team managed to tracked her there, or else she'd have been along with the mole who had a gun and could have killed first responders to the explosion. Heck, if he survived and Sabatino was alive then they all could have survived, killed her, and escaped without anyone else knowing who captured Kensi.

Also what were the odds that they were giong to force into the cage? This show is getting more and more stupid with every season...

There's no logical (lol) reason for Sharov to be with these two: he was in a Russian prison during the Afghanistan operations. Okay, I'm thinking this all must be a ruse, these guys are trying to get the REAL mole. Gemmill's a better writer than this. There must be a HUGE surprise in the next episode because everybody was guessing it was the CIA and Sullivan.

It just look like that they are just crazy.

The guy with the leg is. They killed some high ranking member in politics for show. They killed other for show. One guy died (when Hedi shot him) and they didn't care.

Now the must know that others know that some guys from the CIA are in it. They can't hide that. So they think the make the most damage to NCIS by killing as much people they can, in some twisted patriotic sense.

They just went completely bonkers. If would be tacky to add a heist or some cheap scheme to it.

If the CIA agents are behind this, then the story line is worse than stupid--it's MORONIC. First, NCIS has EVERY reason to be in Afghanistan and the CIA knows it; NCIS takes on terrorism cases worldwide, not just cases of drunken or disorderly sailors. Second, if these CIA agents are behind it, they're incredibly inept. What clandestine operative tells the people working for them WHO they're working for? "We want to hire you. We're the CIA." lol Third, if these guys wanted to take out the NCIS LA team, they couldn't kill them over a 2 1/2 year period? Seriously? What if someone is setting up both NCIS AND the CIA? I just can't believe this is it. If this is it, then Gemmill really screwed the pooch (and he's a good writer). Besides, where's the character close to Callen who isn't the person s/he appears to be?

I'm guessing his "old" girlfriend, played by his real wife. It "cooled" down between them within the series, the question is if they turned her or she was setup to meet him to steal data.

reply

I don't think Callen is the agent betrayed. I'm thinking it's either Granger or Sam. Joelle--that would be a stretch.

Isn't there supposed to be another mole? Someone on the team?

reply

Except Joelle is going to be on the next episode.

reply

I agree with the other poster--I don't think Joelle is the one who betrays Callen. Maybe she's being used as bait? I just don't see her as a betrayer; that would involve too much backstory and would be too complicated. Besides, it wouldn't cause a shake-up in the team. I think a cast member said in an earlier interview that the identity of the mole shakes up the team (and LL said there was more than one mole). So far, that hasn't happened. I hope they're not referring to Miguel's passing as the thing that shakes up the team. His passing was tragic and he will be sorely missed 😢, but Granger's exit wasn't a plot device created by the writers.
